Yes, its similar. Just like a standard scan really.

I had one last week and they take about 20-30 mins, and they just check the blood flow in the arteries to placenta from yourself and in the umbilical cord and check the growth of baby. They might also say you will need to have growth scans and further dopplers but its no worry as least they will be keeping an eye on you this time!

Hope I was helpful xx

I also had one at 24 weeks (had severe pre-eclampsia first time round), am 29 weeks now. Think mine took about the same amount of time as gemangracie.

It won't give you a definite answer about this pregnancy, but if you have notching or increased resistance in the blood flow it will put you at a higher risk of IUGR or pre-eclampsia. Mine showed bilateral notching (ie on both sides) and increased resistance, so I have been put in the high risk category and am having monitoring with umbilical cord dopplers every 2 weeks, full growth scan every 4 weeks.

Lots of luck, hope all looks normal - but if it turns out this pg is high risk you can be reassured you will get plenty of monitoring and be well looked after.
