Hi I work in a nursery where I am constantly getting sick due to all the bugs going around, today I was told that there is also chickenpox (which I had as a child) and scarlet fever going around. I have also had scarlet fever. I am just worried if working there is putting my unborn baby at risk.

Chicken pox is arisk - primarily in teh last 2 weeks before delivery - although there are some risks in the first trimester.

Scarlet fever - is the same as a strep throat - so I wouldn't think that would be concern for an unborn child but I could be wrong.

Not an expert, but as long as you are immune to things, which you are to chickenpox if you've had it, you'll be fine. Rubella is a scary one but most kids should have been vaccinated and you probably have been too - did you check before pg? So I wouldn't worry, but at the same time fair enough to keep an extra eye on yourself as it were and avoid situations where you're obviously likely to make yourself ill.

Oh yes - forgotten to mention immunity.
