Best Place for Reasonably Priced Maternity Wear?

Although I am not at the buying stage yet, i am at the speculating stage!

I'm a 5'5 size 14/16 and I just wondered if anyone can recommend some nice reasonably priced shops for maternity wear - I've been a bit scared by some of the prices of online retailers! £65 for a pair of jeans!!!

I usually shop in New Look, Dorothy Perkins - so that's the kind of price range I am looking at

I'm quite enjoying the speculating and browsing stage so any recommendation will be enjoyed

Asda apparently has recieved some awards for best maternity range and is supposed to be quite reasonable

the maternity wear in New Look is quite good, ive bought a lot of stuff from there...H & M is also quite good....

where are you based, as I guess not all stores stock maternity wear

I just bought a size or two bigger and didn't bother with "proper" maternity clothes. I got a big pair of dungarees from ebay and they were ace.

Doroothy Perkins do maternity wear. I bought a pair of jeans there on sale for £15. I've had lots of compliements about them with people expressing surprise they are maternity jeans.

Good maternity vests in Topshop.

I've also got bigger sizes of normal clothes from Kew. It's a bit more expensive but will work for after the birth as well.

I second that.

This is my 2nd pregnancy and although I am 36 weeks I still don't need maternity tops. I wore a dress today from Monsoon (via ebay) which is a size 20 but there is so much room in it I think my bump would have been amply accommodated in a size 18. Take a good look at your wardrobe and work out what will take you through.

I couldn't have got through this pregnancy without maternity leggings from Isabella Oliver and yoga pants from M&S.

I was in Dorothy Perkins yesterday and they had a decent selection. More than most - including Next and Gap - have in their shops

Dotty P do maternity clothes as do (I think) New Look.
A lot of Dotty P's marernity clothes seem to be almost always in the sale.

I rated H&M and New Look for tops and jumpers. As others have said, not all stores stock the range, so check before you make a special trip.

Next (mail order) and Mama's & Papas were good for jeans (the latter not as expensive as I expected. I think my jeans were only about £25) and Next had some useful multi-pack plain t-shirts.

Next for jeans is good I bought some in the sale, also New Look have some lovely maternity jeans in I saw this week.
I dont like H&M amd their prices are no better than Next (still £20 for linen trousers for summer).

Ive cracked my maternity trousers out today, and although theyre a bit big its so much nicer than squeezing into normal trousers (im only 10 weeks )

If you aren't bothered about new, try ebay! A lot of stuff is in fabulous condition and a fraction of the price.

In the past week I've bought Mothercare leggings for £6 and Next jogging bottoms for £4. This included p+p. Both were in pristine condition.

Peacocks also do maternity wear relatively cheap but will probably only last one pregnancy as not always top quality.

i got given some Asda maternity tops and have to say as good as the items I bought from Jojo and other maternity labels.

shop around as most of the big labels do offer discounts and therefore can make their items more reasonable if shopping on a budget.

EBAY - most of the stuff has only been worn for 6m tops so you can pick up some real bargains that are often in nearly new condition.

Of course you will want a few new bits - for that I got on well with Dorothy Perkins - but that was 8yrs ago for DTDs.

I can't remeber what I wore with DD3 actually - I think it must have all been ebay

Really depends on your taste, if you are at the speculating stage you have time to look around.

Love DP for jeans. Cant bear H&M, ditto GAP. New Look not bad. Debenhams have some surprisingly nice tops. Benneton also do a maternity range.

I have managed to get by with 2 pairs of maternity jeans and 'normal' clothes just a size up, look for smock style tops and your sorted, stretch jersey if you want to show off the bump. Unless you love it I wouldnt spend too much, by the end of the preg you'll want to burn it all!!!

Have to say I bought a work skirt and trousers from Isabella Oliver (when I worked) and sent them st back. The trousers were glorified trakkie bottoms and the skirt was just wrong. Lovely packaging though!!!

Will get onto ASOS, have been looking for leggings to go with dresses.

affordablematernity.co.uk do some great high street stuff at a fraction of the price, also the lady who runs it is absolutely lovely and her customer service was fab! Well worth checking out in my very humble opinion
