How much nesting did you do second time round?

I just can't be as bothered this time (32 weeks) and DS (3) keeps the place looking lived in

But then I was far too anal the first time and even after DS was born, I drove myself mad trying to keep the house perfect.

I do have the nesting bug and try to clean a bit more often but the house will be nowhere near as clean as it was when DS was born.

How does everyone else feel about nesting second time around?

Second pregnacy you have more than your bump to think about. If second timers do any nesting, its generally days before the bump lands rather than weeks.

I'm 38 weeks and my son is at home from school. Our house is not immaculate.

That makes me feel better. You are right about having more to think about.

I just convince myself it is good for baby's immunity

It's killing me this. My ILs are going to be staying in the house looking after DS and I feel like I've got a trillion things to get ready for them. And I want it not to be indecently dirty or untidy. Never going to get it all done. Baby induced on Monday (38 weeks) but am getting scared it will come before then anyway. NOT READY for the ILs. Baby, fine. Ish.

Not much. Had a couple of days of crazy cleaning, but lost the will with it, really, and felt too knackered. Got DH to do a bit of the housework while I was in hospital after birth

Indith · 15/04/2009 20:17

None. I did a lot of sticking ds in front of ITNG and dozing on the sofa.

littleboyblue · 15/04/2009 20:18

mrsboring I was induced with my ds2 at 39 weeks and the nesting came to me when he was about 3/4 days old. I'm sure it was day 3 because I remember crying a bit whilst I was washing the kitchen walls down

roseability Maybe the 'lack' of nesting for number 2+ might be something to do with the fact that as you already have a child living in the house, you deem it to be clean enough where you may no if it's your first iyswim?

yomellamoHelly · 15/04/2009 20:32

Am opposite. No nesting with ds1. We'd only been here 5-6 months so the house wasn't really ours and we had stuff everywhere.
Was spotless for ds2.
Not bad now in readiness for db3, but PIL have been here 2 weeks and I've used it as an avoidance activity.

No nesting at all with DS, 3 years ago. This time round I have rearranged his room (and built the ikea storage unit & wardrobe whilst DH &DS were shipped off to the park) Scrubbed the floorboards in the hallway and living room. Sorted all the kitchen cupboards, tidied out the shed (as that will be where DD is spending most of her time...)Replanted all the pots in the garden and sorted out my wardrobe. I'm also being filled with a strange desire to repaint the hall and stairs - it's very strange as I'm not domesticated at all normally
It's a girl this time round - I think it's the extra oestrogen that did it!!

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 15/04/2009 21:18

If anything I was worse second time. I think it was partly due to the fact I was having an HB. I vaccuumed every day the whole house, and cleaned non stop.

I also repainted the bathroom and sorted out my linen cupboard, not usually very fussy.

I think I wanted to be sertain I was giving birth in a lovely clean environment.

I am with you Yomella. None with DD(1) as moved int boyf's house the day before she arrived.

This time I ave blitzed the house - and I mean blitzed!!!

Don;t want to be in same position I was after DD(1)- running around trying to make house presentable before visitors arrived even when I was dog-tired!

I am 30 weeks now and it feels really nice to have it all in place.

I have even washed new baby's clothes, bouncy chaior etc.

Yay Me!!

roseability · 23/04/2009 09:18

since my post, I have washed all my cushion covers and ordered new bedding. Maybe the nesting bug is setting in after all
