Hi all

Sorry - this may seem a very silly question but...I have recently been sent a letter confirming my appointment in mid-May for my scan and bloods. I assume this is also what is known asa "booking in appointment"? Ie I see the midwife for the frist time then too?

It seems a bit odd as how do they know I will actually be 12 weeks then? In fact, I am almost certain I will be 10 weeks as I think I ovulated late, and didn't get a posotive result until CD39. My last period was 14.02.09 and by my calculations I am 6 weeks now, not 8 as my Dr thinks. I saw him at about 4/4.5 weeks and told him what I thought my dates were but he didn't really take any notice and said they'd find out when I saw the midwife. he said going by LMP I was 6ish weeks.

So therefore they are assuming I will have my scan/appt at 12 weeks as those are dates my GP has told them whereas I think I will be 10 weeks. Do I need to phone them and tell them or will then scan me then and again at 12 weeks?

I also thought it was common to have a booking in appt before the first scan - am I wrong?

Confused!

It's normal to have a scan first then booking appt

They will go by LMP dates until they scan you - if the first scan turns out to be too early they will rescan you a few weeks later

Perfect - that says it all really! Thanks a lot.
