I have a friend who delivered at 35 weeks following d&v but she never knew whether it was the d&v which caused the labour or the labour that caused the d&v iyswim.

Either way - you need to call your midwife or hospital now!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 13/04/2009 20:39

you need a midwife.

wouldn't have thought a mild tummy bug could trigger labour - but defo call the Women's right now about your pains!

Nemoandthefishes · 13/04/2009 21:14

bath and and paracetamol while you wait that hour?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 13/04/2009 21:17

How long have you been having the pains for since the D&V stopped?

D&V can sometimes be the body's way of having a clear out before labour. Does it feel like labour type pains to you? How long do the pains last for?

Nemoandthefishes · 13/04/2009 21:25

was having slight pains before d+v but not same type. These feel like cross between cramps and braxton hicks. Pains have gotten worse and more regular since d+v finished at 7pm but still sticking at 4 mins or so, baby is still kicking which is not helping.

I would get yourself to hospital if I was you - I had smimilar at 33 ish weeks and they wanted to see me right away.

xxhunnyxx · 13/04/2009 21:34

I had d&v a few weeks ago and rang the MW at hospital as I was also worried but she didn't seem overly concerned. She said to just stay at home cos goin to hospital would spread it to others and the usual drink plenty advise.
Totally understand what u mean about baby kicking, it's reassuring to know they're ok in there but feels horrible doesn't it?
Hope u feel better soon, these things usually don't last for too long, you'll prob feel much better by tomos x

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 13/04/2009 21:35

I'm suprised they haven't wanted to see you especially as its your 4th. 2 hours of regular cramps at 30 weeks is an hour too many in my opinion.

If you're worried ring the hospital up and tell them you feel you need to come in.

StarlightMcEggzie · 13/04/2009 21:38

A friend of mine had bad D&V and then went into labour. She was told that sometimes it can irritate the uterus and begin contractions.

With enough contractions labour can begin.

You need to keep in contact with the maternity services whilst this is going on.

SlightlyMadSimnelCake · 13/04/2009 21:39

I am also shocked that they don't want to see you if you are having contractions of some description every 4mins. Please call them again. I think official advice is that if you have more than 4 contractions in an hour you should call. Given that you are having about 15 per hour I would have thought they would want you in. (I was called in for 5-6 in an hour but had a history of prem delivery).

Please ring them again. D&V can cause braxton hicks. It can also trigger labour. You need to be seen ASAP so that they can give you drugs to halt labour if necessary. These can only be given in v early labour which is why you should be seen sooner rather than later.

LadyOfWaffle · 13/04/2009 22:15

I hope you are ok x

SlightlyMadSimnelCake · 13/04/2009 22:20

Hope she has gone in just to get checked.

Nemoandthefishes · 14/04/2009 08:36
