TMI - crap sex in pregnancy - help?

It wasn't like this last pg!

Whenever we have sex (and it's only about once every 3 weeks) I am left really sore and I seem to lack sensation both inside and out...

We have been using lube as I know from last time that things don't quite work in that department naturally, I don't know what else to do.

Normally everything is fine (good) and it's getting on my wick now.

And of course poor old DH is upset about it - nobody likes to be told that they've made their loved one sore and uncomfortable...

Maybe it's hormonal? Could it be because we're at it so little?

Help!!!

Could it be a bit of thrush causing the soreness and when you are, ahem, doing it you are aggrevating / reinfecting each other?

Shambolic · 13/04/2009 12:52

Hmm not sure.

I have had a couple of bouts this pg...

Def worth thinking about... Surely if it was thrush it wouldn't cause immediate discomfort though?

i had this. I am 18 weeks and has sex for the first time in 6 weeks and felt like i had run the marathon. very sore even though i was up for it and no real pleasure for me. also since then have huge increase in...TMI alert.....stringy gluepy discharge?

Don't have thrush as just had a vaginal swab result......

Shambolic · 13/04/2009 12:55

I wonder if it's hormonal. I'm about 26 weeks and has been like this most of the time.

It's really pissing me off...

How far along are you? Generally 2nd trimester is supposed to be the good sex time in pregnancy while 1st and 3rd can be less so, I think. I'm sure it's normal and you will be back to the good shags in due course- may just be a question of waiting it out and having lots of non penetrative sex in the meantime?

Shambolic · 13/04/2009 13:05

Last time we were at it a lot in the 2nd trimester and it was fine... Lots of saucy dreams for some reason.

This time still having the saucy dreams and waking up frisky but the actual act is not so fine at all and not doing anything different to normal.

I don't know about loads of non penetrative sex but think that's what we're going to have to do. Isn't quite the same though somehow...

*tessofthedurbervilles do you know what i think I do have thrush after all... Maybe it isn't very bad and gets aggravated when we have sex...

Wanted to let you know you were probably right

Now to get some treatment...

I'm the same as Yentil. Also a tiny bit raw, and the whole area stays HUGE for ages afterwards.

The snot-discharge is really offputting, but while engaged in the activity it is better than ever so I'm just dabbing with vaseline afterwards.

I've had a swab too and nothing showed up.

Shambolic · 15/04/2009 13:20

Hmm yet another thing we're all left to find out for ourselves...

Why don't birth books/ante natal etc ever tell you anything useful???

Hawkmoth I am sorry to hear about your offputting snot-discharge...!

LOL! It's the defences in the vagina working extra hard I think. I can't help feeling a bit sorry for all DP's lost soldiers perishing in such a hostile environment!
