I'm getting shooting pains either in my vagina or cervix, I don't know which but it really hurts then goes quickly, but sometimes I get several in a row and can hardly walk. Anybody else got these or know what it is?

Hello, I'm 37+6 and I have been getting shooting pains like you describe every now and again for the past few weeks. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I expect it just means things are getting ready to happen... could be pressure of the baby's head on cervix if he/she is engaged or could just be things stretching... Either way, I think it's a positive sign that movement isn't tooooo far away (or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part ).

Sorry - not very helpful. Hopefully someone who actually knows the answer will be along at some point!

I had this for the last few weeks of my last pg and have also had it off and on with this pg (am now 35 wks). I think it's just the baby's head bouncing around on your cervix / trying to get into a good position / engage etc. Doesn't necessarily mean anything is about to happen (athough I keep hoping so) and nothing really to do about it other than stand still going 'ow,ow,ow' until it stops! Good luck with the rest of your pg.

Cheers, I hope baby comes soon, its DD today! Just seen MW and she said it was all normal, just getting ready for birth and recommended clarisage oil to get things moving so I'm off to Holland and Barretts today I think!
