Average 1st baby, Huge 2nd baby what is a 3rd likely to be?

DS1 was 7lb 2oz and I was told he was just below average. DS2 was 10lb 5.5oz and obviously very big.

One blood test showed that I had a high blood sugar level. But after a fasting blood test it was shown that it was normal so I didn't have gestational diabetes. After DS2 was born MW said that I was maybe just under the level for GD.

We're planning to try for a third in a year or so and I was wondering what the chances of having another big baby are?

It is anyone's guess. Unless you were to show a pattern, which sometimes happens, it could go either way.

Most of the time there is no rhymn or reason, but statistically, subsequent babies are larger, but it is certainly not carved in stone. As an example, my two older brothers were about twice as large as I was. Of my own children, my fourth was smaller than my second and third.

DD1 - 8lb8 - no probs
DD2 - 9lb10 - but WB with no probs
Now 37 wks with LO, after many glucose tests etc. this one looks spot on the 50th centile for growth so should (fingers crossed) be the smallest of the lot.

Only 18 weeks but wondering if this will be a 10lb one, however someone at work said doesn't matter how big. Its the head which has to get through the 10cm gap and the rest just follows!!
