according to my midwife they take on more staff during full moons. My friend who has been told women will always see 9 full moons which may mean you're overdue or early depending on your dates? anyone else heard of this...i was overdue with my first two but didn't know about the moon thing. I'm due on friday! so it would be really good if there is some truth in it as I'm getting a bit fed up feeling like a beached whale!lol! Kinda makes sense as well based on the moon affecting the tides etc

I like the idea, but IME some midwives love this sort of nonsense. LIke the theory that more women give birth at night - midwives swear this is true, but the research evidence says otherwise.

berniebump3 · 08/04/2009 21:58

midwives are the ones who I trust more then 'research' though... what research? how many women? Thats the problem with research..I trust the womaen who do this job day in day out for years. It makes sense that the moon afects us as it affects the tides... periods often synchronise with the full moon... growing plants, the harvest moon! you never know Hester... might not be nonsense... we'll find out in the next few days if it worked for me anyway!! lol

Chris Cornell used to sing in Soundgarden.

IME means in my experience.

Am dipping in and out of threads now whilst watching the You're Fired programme.

I would call that a very positive attitude to approach childbirth with, berniebump! Best of luck with your birth (I'm soooo jealous - would love to be doing it all again right now!)

IME means 'in my experience'. In my case, professional as well as personal.

I like that FIQL site bernie. Will listen to those songs later.
