Can someone help me with pregnancy my dates please.

If conceived around 5th March, how many weeks am I?

the date of conception is usually counted as the first day of your last period so you are always said to be two weeks more pregnant than you really are (if that makes sense)

So if you have a "normal" 28 day cycle you are said to be 4 weeks pregnant the day you miss your period.

At least I think that's right...

If you know when you conceived then add on two weeks to that date. So, you will be 7 weeks pregnant on Thursday.

Why do they date the pregnancy this way? I find it really confusing. Why not just date from conception (if conception date is known)

I know exactly when conception took place, which would put the due date as two weeks later than the one I've been given. Should I expect my baby to be born on the date I've been given, or the date nine months from the conception?

Pregnancies are usually dated by the last period as it's more accurate than conception date. Sperm can live for some time inside the womb/fallopian tubes, so conception can happen over the space of 5 or 6 days from when you actually had sex.

When you have your 12 week scan they'll revise the date anyway based on measurements so don't worry about it. My due date changed by 9 days when i had the dating scan.
