Hi everyone,

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and despite having had a booking appointment with the local midwife 2 weeks ago when I was told they usually try to get women in by 11 weeks for the dating scan, I've now been told by the MLU I'm going to that they likely won't have any appointments free until the end of the month, by which time I'll be more like 14 weeks.

Not a huge problem I'm sure but I'm jut wondering if the due date they then give me will be less accurate if the scan's late??
What do you think?

Between 11-14 weeks is fine for a nuchal scan, I think (the one they usually do at 12 week). They can date your pregnancy fairly accurately at any time during your pregnancy, so don't worry about that.

Actually, if you're having a nuchal test done, you need to be seen before 13 weeks. The measurement of the nuchal fold at the baby's neck (used as an a marker for Down's Syndrome) won't be accurate unless taken between 11 and 13 weeks. I'd call the midwife to see if you can get seen earlier. Good luck!

when i had my first child the hospital did the dating scan as 14 weeks as a matter of routine. it has been moved to 12 weeks now though.
