Just found out i'm pregnant after a missed miscarriage at the beginning of the year, i'm about 4 weeks. I phoned the doctors to make an appointment today and the first available appointment is on the 20th when i'll be about 6 weeks. I was hoping to get referred for an early scan this time. Should I phone back and see if i can refer myself to the midwife which i'm sure they said i could do last time or do you think i'm better off waiting to see doctor to talk through my concerns with him? How far along were you before you went to the docs?

Congratulations! Were you under an Early pregnancy Unit with your mmc? Even if not, I would ring them and explain and see if they will fit you in, many will de a reassurance scan with those who have experienced loss in a previous pregnancy. Would recommend following their advice as when to have the scan though, as you'd want to be far enough along to be sure of seeing the hb (6.5 + weeks I think).

Good luck

Hi fairywing

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I had a mmc a few weeks ago, it really is a horrible experience to go through, I'm so happy for your BFP.

I think until the heart beat can be heard (gosh that sounds so clinical) they are not too keen on seeing you. So an early scan might be redundant. I know that the wait might seem like forever but I think PTF might be right you may have to wait until at least 6.5 weeks (I had thought it was more like 7+)

Take care
