11wks pg: exhausted, but can't sleep

I've had to get up in the night to go to the loo two or three times since about week 5, but up until about a week ago, I was getting back to sleep very quickly. Now I am awake for HOURS - last night between 1am and 5.30am for example. I'm not particularly fretting about anything, but being awake for so long inevitably means I do start thinking about things (work etc) that don't really help me to relax. I'm also quite uncomfortable as the SPD I had in my first pg is clearly on its way back again...

Any tips? I have a 17mo very active ds, so it's not as if I'm not worn out by the time I go to bed!

Reading. I had insomnia when pregnant and I occasionally have it when I wake up in the night because of strange noises (since becoming a parent my hearing has become superhuman). Fretting didn't work, getting up and getting a milky drink didn't work, but reading did. It made my eyes burn and emptied my head of thoughts. Also concentrating on a white wall and blocking thoughts. I struggle to stop my brain whirring but reading did the trick for me. You can either read something really boring or something really interesting (but you'd read longer if the latter)

Yep - I've had insomnia since November and reading helps me too.
God, I feel as though I've aged 300 years from the lack of sleep! And although I know NO-ONE would say it to me on here, yes, I know it'll get worse....
