Hi Ruddynorah,

I'm relatively new to Mumsnet, but wanted to say Good Luck for tomorrow. I know how nervous you must be feeling, having been for similar nerve wracking scan, and hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.

Wimbleberry · 06/04/2009 08:39

Hi, I followed your thread last month but didn't post. I'd never heard of a molar pregnancy before.

I really hope it's good news for you.

stanausauruswrecks · 06/04/2009 10:57

Keeping everything crossed that scan goes well and you see a nice healthy heartbeat

Habbibu · 06/04/2009 13:04

Oh - I came looking for you! Keeping everything crossed - will check in later.

Habbibu · 06/04/2009 17:34

Any news?

lastboxoftampons · 06/04/2009 17:56

Best of luck! Hoping it's all good news!!!

ruddynorah · 06/04/2009 19:06

all fine! measures 8wks 3 days. heart beating away. so there we are. still a slim chance it could turn out partial molar, in which case it'll not get much further than 9 or 10 weeks. now i have 11 wk scan booked and have to register with midwife as normal

Oh HURRRRAAAYYY!! RN, can you email me? Am on myusername at gmail.com.

Northernlurker · 06/04/2009 19:09

Hurrah!!

Saw this thread earlier but was at work and didn't have time to post. I know someone who had a molar pregnancy and conceived after 6 months. All fine and a healthy baby born last month.

ruddynorah · 06/04/2009 19:30

done habbibu! let me know if it doesn't get through.

thanks everyone. still don't feel i can get too attached to this one though. shame really as i can't enjoy it properly. still, take each day as it comes.

Congrats ruddynorah!

My friend had a molar pregnancy about 6 months ago and is still having to send off her urine to be tested. Can I just ask if you waited till your urine tests were comin back clear before you started TTC again or if it's ok to concieve whilst hormones are high? I think my friend was told to wait 12 months but I think that might be because of the stage that it had reached. It's all very complicated isn't it.

Try not to worry too much, I'm sure everything will be fine. Even the complication-free pregnancies are full of fears and anticipation but I'm sure everything will be ok xxx

ruddynorah · 06/04/2009 20:14

my levels were 'normal' very quickly. my levels reached normal by the 2nd sample which was december. so i should have waited 6 months from then. i decided, having read around, to go for 6 months from the erpc. we conceived at first attempt and here we are. no guarantees though of course. bring on the next scan!

hunny - I think your friend would be wise to wait till her levels are normal. They need to be sure that any rise is because of pregnancy not recurrance and they can't do that till you've had clear tests. Much sympathy to your friend - I know the person I know found it very hard to have to wait to ttc.

Habbibu · 07/04/2009 08:25

Not just that, either - if you get pregnant while your levels are still high, there may be molar tissue - just a few cells - still there, and pregnancy hormones can accelerate the growth, risking both a tumour and danger to the pregnancy. levels need to have been normal for a while.

It is a PITA - I've had to wait twice for different reasons, but really worth it.

Wimbleberry · 07/04/2009 13:58

That's great news ruddynorah, congratulations!

Habbibu · 25/04/2009 21:52

Just catching up, ruddynorah - how are you doing?

ruddynorah · 26/04/2009 10:30

12 wk scan tomorrow. might make it public then if all ok..we shall see. appointment at 2pm. had midwife booking in app last week. she really had not much of an idea about molars but did write it in big red letters on my notes, so that was nice. and she kept whispering the word molar instead of just saying it. odd lady. anyway. roll on tomorrow.
