Third pregnancy: loads of symptoms really early - is this usual?

My first two pregnancies I have been the most symptom-free woman on the block: got through the first trimester and well into the second with just a wee bit of nausea, some weird eating preferences and a bit of light-headedness (lucky me, eh?). I am hardly pregnant at all yet - only 4 1/2 weeks or so - yet I am constantly faint, sore boobs, heartburn already (I've had to break out the rennies that haven't been touched since DD2 was born 2 1/2 years ago) and, bizarrely, I seem to be having braxton-hicks type tightenings even though my uterus can only be the size of a small random piece of fruit. Just wondering if all this is just one of those things with a third, or is something strange going on? (Perhaps I am having a boy this time, who knows).

I got MS before the BFP 3rd time around, but have always had hideous pregnancies, so only just a tiny bit earlier than before.

Are you perhaps also ill and that's making you feel extra rubbish?

cupofteaplease · 04/04/2009 16:40

I've definitely got more ms this (3rd) time round, and more pains than before. I'm only 7 wees ish.

dorisdaily · 04/04/2009 16:41

Hello me too! I am 8 weeks and had all of the above before I even got a BFP (wasn't going to even bother doing a test as I was so sure but dh made me). My midwife told me last time each pregnancy gets tougher and all the aches and pains come a lot earlier.

Ineedanewname · 04/04/2009 16:47

Ah this is all good to hear! Am definitely not poorly to make me feel bad, but I also wasn't going to bother testing because I knew (but then did one anyway ;) )
Braxton hicks though? Is that even possible?

it's not just you, this pg (my 3rd) has been my toughest by far. I had LOADS of morning sickness and so, so tired and sorry to say the end bit has been really hard going - terrible heartburn, size of a house etc etc - you get the picture!

Ineedanewname · 04/04/2009 17:46

Eek! I'll look forward to that then ;)

This pregnancy, my 3rd, has been hideous compared to my earlier pregnancies. Yuk, yuk, yuk. Now 18 weeks and still feeling a bit sicky. Before, I felt much better by 15 weeks.

Ineedanewname · 04/04/2009 18:21

Oh blimey. Isn't there anyone out there who has breezed #3?!
And I am not ready to hear horror stories about third labours being the worst, either

have been told 3rd births are very un predictable, can be long and according to consultant - similiar to 1st births - looking forward to that in approx 3 weeks time...

lizziemun · 04/04/2009 19:50

I breezed through my 3rd pregnancy. Had no symptons at all.

Unfortunley he was 11days late, and had to be induced and very nearly had to have a emergency c-section.

It also taken me 3 weeks to recover from the birth and i am only just begginning to feel like myself. Where as with my previous 2 births i have been up and about within a day or 2.

LargeGlassofRed · 04/04/2009 19:54

had really early symptoms with number 4, turned out its twins!

Wallace · 04/04/2009 20:24

Twins perhaps?

If it helps my thid preg was not bad at all and the birth was fantastic

Ineedanewname · 05/04/2009 07:41

Ha ha ha. Yeah, twins. That's really funny

I always have sick pregnancies, but with this one (no.3) I was sick from a couple of days after conception - not vomiting, but felt icky enough that I knew I was pregnant. It didn't really kick off until 7 weeks (on a plane from Sigapore to Sydney, as it happens!), which was when it started with numbers 1 and 2.

As for the BH contractions - I felt sure I was going to have a very early MC, as I had so much cramping in weeks 4-6 with this one (didn't though), although I had that with DC 1 as well. I've had some fairly serious BH contractions here too, but not until I was about 12 weeks I think.

Ineedanewname · 05/04/2009 08:06

Astrophe: and you are just having one, right?!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 05/04/2009 08:14

yes, just one (was hoping for twins!)

Ineedanewname · 05/04/2009 08:50

Ooh gosh, I am very much hoping it is not!

Im on second pregnancy (4 weeks) I could eat a scabby horse dipped in mud, I can barely touch my boobs without crying, I constantly feel like im about to come on my period, it really upset me when I saw one of my fish pick on another smaller fish (the big bully)and it tastes like I have a tin mine in my mouth.
This is what I get for having a 1st pregnancy that was easy!
AND IM ONLY 4 WEEKS! someone help me! lol
Things can only get better...

Ineedanewname · 06/04/2009 21:49

LOL!
Wonder if it is a different sex baby? Is there anything in that?
I've settled a bit now (6 weeks, lol), though I am very tired and grumpy still.

LOL @ Baisey esp the scabby horse.

Sounds like me. Second pregnancy too. I am almost 6 weeks. Mouth tastes yuck and I only feel good when I am eating. Tum looks like I am 6 months, guess I don't hold it in like I used to Boobs feel like boulders and probably weigh as much!
