I am 34 weeks pg...and have started craving some weird things.

There is a weird smell in my hall closet where we keep paint and tools...it reminds me of my grandads garage or attic...full of intersting smells lol I find myself going in for a sniff every so often.

Petrol: mmmmm oh yeah. When DH is filling up I crack the window and have a good wiff.

Currently sitting here with a glass of ice and a spoon. Tastes so good.

Anyone else having weird cravings and have you given into any of them?

I am 16 weeks and eat copius amounts of toilet paper. Probably get through half a roll a day. I'm craving it badly at the moment actually, and no-one IRL knows except my husband.

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:12

Me nail polish can't stop having a crafty smell of the nail polish dp has to hide it and rations me to a few smells a day .

Shoe polish /windolene are good too .

A few weeks ago it was vicks vaporub .

Petrol yummy .

Cif cleaner keep cleaning with it just so I can get a fix .

You should get the iron checked mine is low and I am on tablets for it not taking these bloody cravings away though .

YesSirICanBoogie · 04/04/2009 15:15

Mmmmm Cif cleaner! Rennie Ice tablets are my guilty pleasure at the moment and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to resist eating lavender.

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:19

omeone on here was buying loads of blue radox too and sitting in the bath all day eating bubbles iirc .

Geepers I knew a woman who used to peel wallpaper off and eat that !

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:20

Oh and paint I got the hallway decorated just so I could sit and smell the painty smells .

Love it if anyone is using that stuff to paint their fence too.

emmabemmasmom · 04/04/2009 15:52

Yeah I am not alone!

I am actually on iron already but as comewhinewith me said it is doing nothing for the cravings!

I eat LOADS of ice all day long..

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 04/04/2009 16:01

I'm 33 and a bit weeks pg and have been wanting to eat bath sponges (you know, the man-made ones in blue/green/pink, not the natural ones) for weeks. Haven't though, just desperate to chew one.

Also, Mr Grumpy runs a garage and I find I'm sometimes almost drooling at the oily smell of him when he comes home.

I bought a hot water bottle (very old-skool I know ) recently - the rubbery smell of that makes me drool and the shop I bought it from smells of rubber and tools and sponge and polish and I go in there and just sniff sometimes.

Like chewing my toothbrush at the moment too.

I always did love the smell of nail varnish and creosote anyway, pg or not.

Loads of ice. Ice. Then more ice. Drive dh mad with my crunching.

Agree with others re checking iron levels. I was recently diagnosed as anaemic, and since starting on the iron tablets, the cravings haven't been nearly as bad.

mathshoneybunny27 · 04/04/2009 20:46

EGGiee - so glad I'm not the only one my DH is suffering too...

rachael4 · 06/04/2009 12:07

I ate bath sponges with both of my previos pregnancies. I just couldn't stop. I can even tell you which brands i preffered!! A friend of mine used to run the hoover until it got warm, then lift the bottom up and sniff underneath!!

emmabemmasmom · 06/04/2009 12:35

Lol at the hoover! I have found that my hoover also creates a lovely smell after being run for a few min...lol weird!

I wouldnt do that with my hoover at the mo, what with a potty training two yr old about!

Leannabanana · 07/04/2009 16:11

i gave in in my 1st bpregnancy and ended up eating a stick of chalk as i had craved it for so long..it actually tasted hideously vile....i also used to drool at the thought of crumbly bricks and muddy potatoes

i used to eat a litre of ice everyday.....just started the weird ice craving again....still at least its not fattening ha ha. x

katyliverpool1907 · 21/06/2009 19:09

I am 36 weeks pregnant.

For the last 4 weeks or so I have really been into dusty rooms, like cellars or garages - the desire to smell them is overwhelming, I feel like a drug addict!
I also like news paper print, magazines and damp towels.

It's very strange, however I do feel better knowing I am not alone!

chloemack · 03/09/2010 10:00

Towards the end of my last two pregnancies I craved the smell of damp and dusty rooms, damp towels, and wet sand, which I actually thought about eating! Am now 26 weeks with my third and am getting the urges again, haha!

Alicious · 03/09/2010 10:18

I just want to eat earth from the garden! Obviously I haven't yet, but I'm sniffing great handfuls of it! Totally get the hoover smell thing too!
