How often can I take paracetamol?

I am 15 wks pregnant and I have been suffering from awful headaches. They seem to be getting worse, I get them all the time ( at least 4/5 days a week) and they are really getting me down... Paracetamol doesn't get rid of them completely, but it does make them a bit more bearable. My consultant said to take paracetamol when I need it, but I am worried too much of it will harm the baby, I hate taking medicine in pregnancy. Does anyone know if it is ok to take it 4/5 times a week or if I should just try and live with the pain? Thanks!

It's fine to follow the directions, ie up to 4 times in 24 hrs.
It is very safe in pregnancy.
If you are suffering, you rGP can prescribe co codamol for you. You can buy it otc, but best to check first.

You can take it 4 times a day if need be! Safe in pregnancy.

I was told by a doctor that it is fine to take up to the normal dose. If you are suffering from bad headaches then don't feel bad - you haven't chosen to have them. No-one wants to take medicines particularly during pregnancy but life isn't like that!

I had cocodamol when pregnant - I had headaches that paracetamol didn't touch. I agree with nickytwotimes though: best on prescription.

Are you drinking enough water? I get headaches even when not pregnant (I'm 28 weeks) but they are much worse if I am not drinking water constantly!

Thank you for your replies, I do drink water, at least 2 litres a day, but I do suffer from headaches normally and I think that the pregnancy has just made them much worse.... I just feel bad taking too many tablets, but as brettgirl2 quite rightly said I did not choose to have them! I guess I am just really paranoid about damaging the baby in any ways ( I had to have 2 terminations previously due to fatal abnormalities )Anyway, I am going to take a tablet now as I have to take my daughter and her friend swimming this afternoon and I can't do it with a throbbing headache!
