Hello,
Am currently in Thailand on honeymoon so can't phone NHS direct on this one so wondered if the lovely Mumsnetters might be able to help! (especially if you are a doctor or a pharmacist!).

Basically I have been bitten in a couple of places by some critter or other- currently in Bangkok so not entirely sure it was a mozzie since we weren't really near a swamp or damp spots.

Anyhow last night the itching got so bad I put some cream on but then realised it didn't say whether it was safe to use in pregnancy (I am almost 8 weeks). Bah I checked all my other medicines before I came out but forgot that one. I do have an oral antihistamine with me too- Loratadine as that one is supposedly safe during pregnancy but I am trying to avoid oral tablets and use topical preparations instead.

Anyone know whether its safe or not? As I would quite like to continue using it as I know I am going to get bitten more. Netdoctor tells me this www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100004445.html

which doesn't help me. Anyone phoning NHS direct about something else and fancy asking them? (they have a special file on drugs and early pregnancy that appears to tell you more than the net!)

Ho hum right off for a bath in citronella oil so I can try to avoid getting bitten again (cept citronella oil is an "aromatherapy oil" and they are bad- nargh this pregnancy malarky is harder than it looks! )

Will check back here tonight but since the time diff will probably be lunchtime for you guys.
Thanks!
