have also posted in health..

Please reassure me that its virtually impossible to get pregnant if having unprotected sex during your period... Im on day 4 of my cycle, and still bleeding a tiny bit, but have done perhaps what I shouldnt have. I know sperm can survive for up to 7 days...

Also, would you say it was relatively safe on the first 2 days (heavy bleeding) of your period to have unprotected sex?

thankyou...

Highly unlikely but not impossible!

I know someone who got pg after unprotected sex on cd5, she was young though (21) and had a fairly short cycle, so she usually ov'd around cd11. I still think to this day she was unlucky but she swears the same happened to her mum (begs the question why she wasn't more careful)

It depends when you ovulate

My friend fell pregnant, unexpectedly, after unprotected sex on CD5- she is 40, and was told that cycles change just before the start of perimenopause and many women actually become more fertile then and ovulate at different times- as sperm can in theory live up to 5ish days inside you, you could have sex on CD5, ovulute on CD10 and conceive.

Personally I would have thought it's unlikely during the first 2 days of your cycle...But I bet someone somewhere has managed to fall pregnant that way!
