[smile] hello, I'm pregnant - and I have a question

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on this particular forum for a while but think I need to rejoin now as I am pregnant with DC2. Due date is December 7th according to my calculations.

I have a question which hopefully someone can answer - I had a smear test in October which showed "slight changes", and I got a letter last week asking me to book another test. Because I was convinced I wouldn't be pregnant I've got a smear booked for a couple of weeks' time. Can I go to it, or should I ring the surgery and explain that I'm pg and see what they say? Is it dangerous that I'm pregnant when things might not be right downstairs?

Any help appreciated - DS is only 21 months so it's not that long since I was pregnant, but it seems a very long time and I've forgotten everything!

I would ring the surgery and ask for their advice.

I read that you CAN have a smear when pg, but our practice nurse told me that she prefers not to. I think a chat with GP is in order, so they can discuss these "slight changes" and you can make an informed decision about whether or not to have the smear now, or wait.

Congrats on pg

my practice nurse says the same as mamaG..FWIW I think it may be standard at some places in the US to have a smear as part of antenatal procedures (I too was obsessed with this issue when pregnant) but ring surgery adn ask.

Thanks for advice, will ring surgery when I get a chance. Finding it very hard to concentrate at work - last time I didn't find out until I was 6 weeks, and because it was our first we were so excited and told people almost straight away. This time I'm determined to wait until 12 weeks but don't think DH will be able to keep quiet until then (he doesn't know yet as I didn't have any tests at home and had to wait until I got to Boots near my office )
