Cravings and deficiencies

Does the fact that I've drunk loads of milk today -something I don't usually do - mean that I am deficient in calcium or something?

Felt the need to eat 3 small avocados yesterday.

I really wanted uncooked potato the other day. Didn't do it!

Is there a link or are these cravings just me being greedy (and odd)?!

There is definitely "something" to the cravings=deficiencies debate, ime. My GP said last week that my craving for salty foods (such as crisps, which normally I'm not keen on) is my body trying to get my blood pressure up. It is so low that I keep keeling over...

my gp told me is is something to do with your body needing certain minerals that it low on! but i have not to act on mine as my cravings are firelighters/petrol and jeyes fluid! mmmmmmmmmm keep going into the garden shed to get a wiff of the petrol lawnmower its driving me nuts! this is my 3rd pg and i have had the same craving each time.

I always love the smell of firelighters and things like that. Not to eat though...(not as mad as you emoticon)

Am getting a bit worried about what my post preg hips will be like as I just want to eat salty, sweet, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING and more. Argh......yum.

My cravings were onions, garlic, leeks, pickled onions etc in the later month. Early on it was pure orange juice (at least a pint a day).
Also Twix bars

hedgie that's really interesting, as I too have been munching away on salty things. (I even bought a massive jar of olives on the weekend and have eaten most of them already...) My BP has always been low. Didn't know there was a connection.

LOL at you petrolheads...

loving olives and roasted artichokes.

and also the smell of persil wool wash ...

hedgiemum · 31/03/2009 15:47

Oh yes broodzilla, as a young teenager I had very low blood pressure while I had periods, and it was treated with being prescribed salt tablets. I'm sure the olives are helping with yours - thats another of my cravings too.
