If it was the R side, I'd think gallbladder.
Is it possible I've pulled something? Also can feel it in my shoulder/clavicle - which I always thought was a wind thing, but nothing has changed for maybe 12 hours...

I've had this all day, but we've been driving home from a weekend thing, so just sort of ignored it, but actually a little bit alarmed now.

any ideas?

THanks

J

i would call your GP or MW . it is probably a pulled muscle, but shortness of breath is not good and you should be checked out today

princessmel · 30/03/2009 09:35

I had this when I was about 13 weeks pg with dd. I couldn;t take a full breath in. It hurt. This pain was in line with my bra strap though.

I went to the gp and they thought it could be a pulinery embelism (bad spelling). They were being extra cautious because I was pg.

The sent me to hospital and I had to stay in and have all sorts of tests/scans etc.

Anyway, don't want to worry you It was not that and was Plurisy.

Go to your gp.

Comewhinewithme · 30/03/2009 09:38

I had this the other day after picking up dd when she was asleep (I am 32 weeks pg) .
It only lasted a few hours I think I pulled something slightly.
I would get it checked out of you are in lots of pain or worried HTH.

princessmel · 30/03/2009 09:54

Yes I should add that this happened to me after I attempted to lift a buggy over 2 bins in the snow. Not clever.

Jackaroo · 30/03/2009 10:59

Mm, it's not shortness of breath exactly, just that when I breathe in it hurts to breathe too deep (is that different?).

Anyway, it's 9pm here, so I'll try and get some rest and then see Doctor in the morning. Thanks for the ideas, I'll get on to it.......

Sounds like you have pulled something as it is sore when you take deep breaths- BUT abdominal and shoulder pain can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia, which is very serious, so definitely best to be properly checked out by a GP, midwife or maternity unit. Hope you feel better soon.

Jackaroo · 30/03/2009 11:26

Oh dear, I had PE last time; thanks for the warning JJ.....

JumpingJellyfish · 30/03/2009 11:35

Are you being more closely monitored due to your history of PE? How is your blood pressure doing?
Get to a doctor asap please, esp. as you have a history of PE. Don't want to be alarmist but as you know PE can worsen very rapidly.
Good luck- and do let us know how you are

Jackaroo · 30/03/2009 11:48

Just did my BP - it's only 106/65, which is higher than it has been (90/50), but still not a high enough differential for me to worry unduly, but I will get it checked out tomorrow. Now stop worrying!

Do you have the urine dip sticks at home to test for protein? Just because sometimes the symptoms appear in a strange order- my BP was the last thing to go awry although I was very poorly by then. But I will stop worrying now- your BP is excellent! Good luck at the doctors tomorrow!

solidgoldbrass · 30/03/2009 11:52

Has the pain stopped/gone? If not, please ring your MW NOW.Don't dick around with this. If it's wind or a pulled muscle, fine, but if it's not then the sooner you recieve treatment the better.

Jackaroo · 30/03/2009 11:55

Argh, I should've just gone to bed!! It's 10pm here... and I have a dr, not a MW, but OK, I'll phone them.....

Right, everyone can stand down, Dr agrees probably a strained rib - but if it's no better in the morning, go and see him.

Thanks for the prompt though, I feel better for calling (although I don't think he was impressed?! But there has to be an upside to going private - haven't really found any yet... ).

thanks again, nice to know someone cares.

Let us know if you do go tomorrow- it definitely sounds like rib pain and I hope it is, but glad you're getting it all checked out. Any ligament strain can take quite a while to heal so pain may be with you for a few more days yet.

Hope you sleep well x

LiegeAndLief · 30/03/2009 13:59

I have had epigastric pain due to pre-eclampsia at 29 weeks in my last pg as well as rib pain due to pulled muscle at 16 weeks in this pg and your pain sounds much more like the latter! Didn't believe the dr when she said that she thought it was muscular, I thought I had broken a rib it was so painful (am a bit of a wimp ) but it was completely better within about three days so she was obviously right.

Had the same thing about not being able to breathe deeply because of pain, which definitely didn't happen with the pre-eclampsia pain. It was horrible though, do hope yours goes away soon! And good luck with not getting PET again...
