Yum yum - want to eat Petrol/Vicks/Interior of new car...

OMG all of these strong smells are driving me wild. I have such an urge to drink the petrol when filling my car, scoop out a load of Vicks with my finger and eat it or alternatively chew on the interior of my friend's new car with that lurvely new car smell.

Don't worry I won't but OOOOOOOOOOOO the urge is so strong.

Am I the only one?

I feel for you I had a desperate urge to smell and eat rubber for most of my pregnancy. I used to go to woolworths and sniff the hot water bottles when noone was looking. I also used to pay visits to the car tyre shop and get up real close to the tyres pretending I was examining the tread!

It stayed with me all pregnancy and started like you about 29 weeks. I got really tired of it by the end. Some people said it was a sign of a deficiency in a mineral, for me it was needing more protien I think. It's called pica but you probably know that

Wilkiepedia - oddly enough I am the same about Diesel and always have been - though obviously never pregnant. However, do be very careful. Petrol contains very toxic compounds, can be very addictive and is very flamable of course.

A bit of a deep breath as you are filling up the car wil do no harm though I am quite sure

Bizzarely, I have read that the anti knock compound called MTBE in unleaded petrol is thought to be beneficial for treating gall stones. Still would not sniff too much though.
