hi am very new to this and hoping some one can help me
i am only 5 weeks with my first and seem to have come down with a cold today - the joys of being a nanny

anyway is there anything i can take as usually take lempsips but don't think i can now

Stick to paracetamol and hot drinks e.g. honey and lemon, hot Ribena my personal favourite! Avoid anything with aspirin or ibuprofen, or anything with decongestants in.

If you are very congested you can also try steam inhalations using just hot water - boil water in a kettle, pour into a bowl, put a towel over your head and just start breathing the steam (be careful not to burn yourself with too hot steam). Very good at clearing the sinuses. You can also use sea-salt-water spray that you can buy at Boots (forgot the name) to clear out your nose. If your throat is affected, try gargling with salt water. Aside from that it's just paracetamol, plenty of hot liquids and rest.
