Dull ache in early pregnancy

Hi,

I think I am looking for some reassurance really.

I am 7+ weeks pregnant, have not seen midwife yet. For the last 2.5 weeks I have been having a dull ache low down- it feels like the beginning of a period. In fact, I didn't realise I was pregnant initially and thought my period was on its way.

Should I be worried? The ache is on both sides and occurs daily, but not coninuously. I have no sharp pains or bleeding.

Any advice, please?

I had this for several weeks with DD2 (now 2). MW muttered something about ligaments. HTH

period like pains in early pregnancy are common and if you dont have any severe pain or bleeding you shouldn't necessarily worry. Do you have any other pregnancy symptoms? Sore boobs, frequently needing to wee, morning sickness? If so then I imagine the ache you feel is a kind of bedding in type of discomfort and will probably be fine. I am just over 8 weeks with my second DC and I had this sort of pain last time and again this time. (My MS only kicked in this week). Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I've had nausea, but not severe. I don't have sore boobs, but then I didn't in my last pregnancies either. Toilet trips, I'm not sure that I am any more frequent, but I was just before I realised I was pregnant- was a give away sign to take a test.

My midwife told me that period pain like aches will occur in pregnancy. I get back ache too. Maybe ring your midwife or arrange an appointment just in case and she will be able to put your mind at rest too.

I had it with my first pregnancy and I remember I was really worried about it, even if midwife told me it was ok. I am 14 wks pregnant now and I have had a mild period pain on and off since I found out. I would not worry at all, unless the pain becomes severe or if you have any bleeding.
