Is it normal to feel massive at 7 weeks, eat like a horse and be as lazy as anything?

I am just 7 weeks pg with no.3. With dd I barely showed at all, with ds there was nothing until about 18 weeks.

This time round I am ravenous, eating anything and everything, am relatively fit normally but cannot face doing any exercise, and by the end of the day I am bloated to look about 7 months pg.

Is this normal, will it settle, and will I ever get back to the gym???

ButtercupWafflehead · 26/03/2009 20:04

Hi Mosschops,

If it helps, I am also 7 weeks, went swimming yesterday and am still feeling worn out, have been mainlining cream eggs during a brief lull in the sickness, and undoing my top button.

I'm only on number 2 - hopefully this will be the biggest we get until real "bump" comes along.

Perhaps it's twins?

Have you joined us on the Due in Nov thread?

helsbels4 · 26/03/2009 20:07

I was going to say maybe it's twins!!!!! I didn't feel like eating anything at 7 weeks and didn't show until quite late as well. Is there any way you could be more pregnant (?) than you think you are?

mosschops30 · 26/03/2009 20:09

No am deffo sure on my dates.

Please dont mention the word 'twins' it would be an absolute disaster!!

What date are you due buttercup? I have a mw appointment tomorrow and then having an early viability scan next week, I cant wait

I'm 7 weeks too (with no 2) and feel pretty hungry too. Can't wait to have my breakfast in the morning, then toast pretty much on the hour every hour, scooby doo style towering sandwich for lunch, then time for chocolate, etc etc.

Normally I would do swimming and yoga each week but i'm pretty much welded to the sofa. I am happy to walk a fair amount though so am focussing on this to get me through without reaching the size of a house!

twinmam · 26/03/2009 20:14

Oh-oh Mosschops - sounds quite twin-like!! Tho actually I felt sick and wept all the time so the ravenous bit doesn't really apply. Think you show more with each pregnancy cos everything gets stretched? Oh and I thought I was certain of my dates but my scan claimed otherwise so you could maybe be a bit further on but had a 'fake' period perhaps?!!

Hattie05 · 27/03/2009 02:02

Hi mosschops,

I so could have written your op! i'm now 9 weeks, but have looked very pregnant for the last couple of weeks. People at work have guessed. This is also my third, and i have concerns about the twin thing!

I'm feeling incredibly nauseas but strangely eating is the only thing that cures it, so i have strong urges frequently to get food and get it now!!

I am also feeling very low, very exhausted and have taken time off work for it. My GP sent me for blood tests today to check for iron and diabetes.

I'm also quite fed up that there is a midwife shortage in my area so i don't know when i'll get to see one, they've told me to be patient.

Guess i just wanted to let you know you are not alone! xx

Tabbykat · 27/03/2009 09:47

I'm teh same as you - can't stop eating and although am only 8 weeks, have seriously considered getting out the maternity stuff from last time - all my trousers are so tight and I have a massive bulge that makes me look about 4 months gone. Think it might be because everything is so stretched from DD1, that it all shows much earlier! x

blondie80 · 27/03/2009 09:57

hi mosschops,

i'm 9 weeks and have been feeling as you describe for the last month, also i could fall asleep standing up, am soooo tired constantly. hoping it wears off soon.zzzzzzzzzzzzz

x

Gorionine · 27/03/2009 10:01

I do not remember being so hungry at 7 weeks but I remember for my 4 pregnancies feeling like sleeping 24/7 for the first three month which saddly could only do with thefirst one!

chaya5738 · 27/03/2009 10:44

I was absolutely starving at 7 weeks and would eat anything in sight. I am actually a runner completely stopped exercising in the first trimester too. I put on 7kg in 12 weeks

peachyfox · 27/03/2009 11:40

Not hunger pangs, hunger PAINS!

At 7 weeks I couldn't get to the fridge fast enough and needed to eat about every hour.

It felt like I was feeding a monster! For dinner I usually give DP about twice what I have, but back then I was heaping my plate up the same and eating it all up.

I'm 18 weeks now and still get up in the night for a biscuit but the rest of my eating has calmed down.

I've only put on very normal baby weight though, so I think i needed the calories. I did stock the fridge with tons of good stuff but sometimes only stodge would do.

I always kept muesli bars in my handbag.

Congratulations!

I ate and ate and ate early on....and did nothing as was so tired - just listen to your body and try to be as healthy as you can. I didn't do much in the way of exercise when pg but am now back to the gym etc just as much as was before...you'll be fine x

I didn't eat loads due to constant nausea, but anything I did eat made me blow up like a balloon-it was all wind !! At times I was bigger than I am now (39weeks)...

mosschops30 · 27/03/2009 13:41

Oh thank god , this thread is very reassuring.

So glad lots of other people cant stop eating, last night I practically ate another meal whilst dh was at the gym

chaya - did you go back to exercising after the 1st trimester? I would like to be reasonably fit even if its just a swim a few times a week!

Seeing MW tonight, might get her to have a feel just to check uterus is normal size for ONE BABY and not two

Yes, yes and yes in answer to your questions.

I was constantly exhausted through the first trimester and couldn't even think about exercising. Now I've reached 2nd trimester (only just!) the tiredness is much reduced, and I have been going for walks and went swimming for the first time this week. I do feel huge and it's definitely stomach not baby!
