Cerviz covering placenta - Can I still go on holiday?

I have just had my 20 week scan and was told that the placenta is covering the cervix and that I will need to go back for another scan at 32 weeks. I am due to go on holiday when I am 26 weeks - is this still going to be possible?

I personally wouldn't leave the country. I think you have to look at the facts and make your own decision. I had a grade 3 diagnosed at 26wks with bleed and stay in hospital. We were due to go into London to one of the queens summer garden parties 3 weeks later. We didn't go because of the journey involved and knowing that if another bleed occurred it'd be a stay in a hospital too far from home. I'm glad that I stayed close to home as the next bleeds were far more traumatic and ended up with a cs at 35weeks.

No. A friend had this and had bleeding on and off and so needed to be in hospital for scans in case of a worry.

She wanted to travel but her insurance company wouldn't cover it - especially as she was aware of the risk.

is your placenta fully covering the cervix? if so, i would stay at home for the reason twinkly toes has said , you might find it difficult to get holiday inusrance too.

you are at greater risk of bleeding and other complications with a placenta covering the cervix, esp if it is fully over

Hello, I'm busy posting on all these threads - I have a thread called 'major placenta previa' if you want to read it. Just to say, your placenta may well move, but you can ask to be scanned the week before you go on holiday to see whether it has or not. My hospital were happy to do this for me, although unfortunately for me it showed no change so I couldn't go. Then I suppose your main problem is travel insurance/recovering the cost of the holiday etc. Hope you have good news and get your break.
