Namechange here

Sorry to put you off your lunch/ dinner.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have just discovered a lump on my labia. Tink it might be a cyst. ONly painful when I squeeze it (so I'm not doing that any more).
Has anyone had anything else like this.
It's def not herpes or a STI.

This happened to me - not when pregnant though. Thought about going to the GP but it vanished after a week or so. If you're worried get yourself to a doctor though, they will have seen it all before!

nickytwotimes · 25/03/2009 10:52

It is probably a spot.
I used to get them round there when I was pg.
Are you feeling okay otherwise?

Poledra · 25/03/2009 10:52

Could it be a Bartholin's cyst? Best to get to your GP anyway, as earlgraytea says.

I had exactly this (not when pregnant). Went to GP who said it was v unlikely to be anything nasty there. Turned out it was a boil, she lanced it, I got some antibiotics and it was gone a couple of days later. She said boils in that area are v common, particularly if you get waxed which can make hairs ingrow.

WowOoo · 25/03/2009 13:51

Had one too.

Hot water on flannel and some antiseptic if it looks red. Keep it v clean and cool. (not suggesting you're dirty!!)

Think I was advised to leave it alone. Never sure if mine were ingrowing hairs (from waxing), boils or cysts if run down.

Avoid knickers too tight around top of thighs if it's there.

If you were later on I'd say it could be a varicose vein. I had an enormous one by the end of my second pregnancy. Went down afterwards thank goodness! Agree with the others, get thee to a doctor - highly unlikely to be anything significant, but you'll be reassured.

I've had a spot there before... probably the result of ingrowing hairs

and jeez it was painful.

a hot flannel and a squeeze made all the difference

angelene · 25/03/2009 14:53

Could be an infected hair follicle, I've had them before (not while pregnant). Goes away after a while.

brettgirl2 · 25/03/2009 15:26

Infected hair follicle/spot. Give it a few days and it will go away - I doubt it's connected to pg.
