How early to see midwife?

Hi - I saw my GP when I was 4.5 weeks and he referred me to the hospital. I have my scan appt through and an appointment a week later in the antenatal clinic, but I think this is with a consultant though I have no idea why they have done that. My GP told me that I would see the midwife twice before my ultrasound, yet I am just over 8 weeks now and not a word from the midwife yet. I will see them at the hospital not via my doctor surgery. Is my GP correct (given he seemed a bit flustered at the time and could have been making it up) or should I be chasing up the hospital about this? I'm doing fine - this is pg#3 and I had no major issues with my other two. I am now with different GP surgery and different hospital to the last two children so not sure what is standard etc. Thanks

My GP made an apt for me to see midwife, I was about 8/9 weeks. She told me I should have another at 16 weeks. I would call surgery and ask GP again.
