Anyone here had a scan at 6weeks?

I have a scan booked for Thursday due to pain and bleeding yesterday. The bleeding has now stopped but it was quite a lot and still having some pain so not very hopeful tbh. Just wondered exactly what you can/should expect to see on scan this early. I will be 6+2. Also will it be a TV or TA scan? Thanks

It's quite early - probably too early to see a heartbeat but they will be able to tell if the sac is there or if you were having a mc. If they can't see much with a TA scan they might try the TV one (it's not painful or uncomfortable or anything so don't worry).

I had a scan 8 years ago at 6+5. Could see a HB. I think it was an abdominal scan but not 100% sure. Must have been, I'd probably remember if it had been TV.

i had a scan with this baby at 6 weeks - only had mild pain - no bleeding - could see a heartbeat. It was TV.

I had a scan at 5 weeks 6 days, or 6 weeks exactly, can't remember precisley but it was an IVF pregnancy so dates accurate and we saw two sacs, two fetal poles, and two heartbeats quite clearly.

Hi - I had a scan (TA) yesterday at 6+3 and saw a heartbeat etc. Very delighted but was gearing myself up for not seeing one. In fact, before they scanned me they said they might not be able to see much and I might have to come back in a few days. So what I'm saying is this is what you could see, but if you don't, don't write it off completely and see if you can get re-scanned early next week.

Thank you for the replies. So it can be hit and miss with HB anyway but they should at least be able to see sack and small beanie if everything is on track then?

Suppose I just have to wait and see. It's so hard just not knowing

I did. I saw one sac with a heartbeat [samile] and one sac that "might be a baby or might not." I only came home with the one baby.

I had a TV scan at 5 weeks then at 6 weeks.
Supposedly they can see the heart like a little flicking light at 6 weeks.
Sadly for me it was just an empty sac (both times)

Have never had a good outcome from an early scan after bleeding and pain.
It kinda lets you know and stops the agony of wondering, so that you can crack on and make a decision.

I had one at just over 6 weeks to check for twins as I was admitted with severe morning sickness.....
there was only 2 in there and as far as I can remember, it was like a kidney bean with a heartbeat.

easyeggs more than likely they will do a TV scan - I had one on monday for similar reasons. I thought I was 7 and a half, turns out by size more like six and a half. There was a fetus, a pole etc all contained in a big black blob! The timing is right on the cusp for spotting a heartbeat - they weren't sure either way. For me, after miscarriage in dec 08 I was heartened not to see shaking heads and worried looks.

I had one today. I am 6.3 and it was TV.

Saw sac and heartbeat and all is well- is only 3.4mm long!

I had one with this pregnancy at 6+2, TV, saw sac and very clear heartbeat but then again was very sure of my dates (used OPKs) - fetus was 6.0 mm long. Had previous MMC where fetus died around 6 weeks so was very reassuring. Good luck and hope it works for you.

I had one at 6 weeks with dc1 after some bleeding. There was a heartbeat. He is now 4.

I had a scan at 6wks 1 day it was an internal scan where they stick a little probe up you as they can find the heartbeat easier. All I could make out was the heart beating but no other recognisable shape. I had had some light bleeding - I'm 25 wks now - Good luck

Just got back from scan. Had TV scan and there is a heartbeat I cannot believe it. I'm so shocked. I honestly wasn't expecting it. I can't stop grinning

I was in your position a few weeks ago. The sense of relief when they showed us the heartbeat was amazing
