Crunch, I do love that maternity dress. I know it must feel as if time is crawling for you, but I've always thought that May would be a lovely time for a birthday...

I've spent the morning wrestling with ds's new tantrums, and things got a bit apocalyptic pre-nap - he bit me sharply on the knee for having the audacity to try and do some housework. Rang dh at lunch bawling, and got told 'I'm really worried about us having number two if you can't even cope with one.' Grr.

Also got told by another mother 'I knew you were pregnant, every time I saw you you looked utterly fed-up.' So much for the glow...

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 01/05/2009 13:53

Tamlin at your dh on your behalf! What an utterly unsupportive thing to say. If he ever complains to you about anything workrelated I would answer with "You're clearly not up to the job, perhaps you should quit".

We all have bad days, just keep saying to yourself 'this too will pass'. And don't beat yourself up for it.

at your mother too, what a nice thing to say. My mother, lovely as she is, said on the phone last night when I mentioned the builders "Oh no, well they won't keep it down if you ask them to" I calmly asked her what she based that bit of wisdom on and how on Earth saying that helped (even if it is true) and she did admit that it was daft. She can be a bit of a doomsayer if left unchecked

The glow will come (I'm still waiting though)

Lovely dresses ladies. scorpio I'd definitely go for that dress, you can dress it up or down and add layers for when it gets colder.
I'm due in early November (was same for ds) and it's a right pain having to have 2 seasons of clothes. It just gets too cold around October time to keep wearing summer stuff. Last time I bought a mans pac-a-mac in peacocks as it was wet and I couldn't fit into any of my coats Am wondering whether this time to get a nice maternity mac - much to my disgust I was wearing my maternity clothes for a while after ds was born. Am resigned to the same thing happening this time too

tamlin grr at your dh but love crunch's idea of what to say to him re a bad day at work! How old is your ds? Mine always used to get bad (and still does) if he was tired or hungry.

Am off to see the in-laws tomorrow in Aberdeen for a few days. Should be good as get on well with them, and will be lovely for them to see the kids. 9am flight though so will be leaving home at 7:30

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/05/2009 15:46

scarlotti I think i am going to go for thisI'm never out in the rain much anyway, that seems an ideal enough cover up, plus will ebay in January and make £££

scarlotti · 01/05/2009 15:52

scorpio good idea, I bought some long cardi's last time to keep me warm and wrap around. I missed out on a lovely mac/trenchcoat from topshop on ebay the other day which would have been great.
Guess I could always buy things then ebay them myself after to get some money back - hadn't really thought of that.

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/05/2009 15:54

oh i do it every time means i can get some nice bits; next jeans, isabella oliver and topshop maternity all sell really well after - about £20 back for each pair of jeans from next! Would probably get 50-60 back on ebay for that wrap coat.

scarlotti · 01/05/2009 16:14

I'll bear that in mind, thanks!
Most of my stuff from last time won't be nice enough to sell but I've bought a few bits this time that might still be in good condition. Am tempted to get a coat, I really struggled without one last time and felt really unattractive and frumpy in my mac Didn't do me any favours with pnd either!

Tamlin · 01/05/2009 18:12

Considering ds was an October baby, you think I'd be all set, but idiotically, I didn't want to go out and buy cold-weather maternity clothes for the last month of pregnancy. So I slopped around in horrible old yoga pants with giant sweaters of dh's over the top and looked like a tramp - and if I'd only had the sense to invest in a nice coat and sweater then, I'd be able to use them again now.

Wheelybug · 01/05/2009 18:50

Popping in to see if Crunch is still here... . Hope it all happens soon - I love that dress Crunch - almost worth getting pregnant again just to buy it... ha ha ha (never again.).

Waves at everyone else - 32 weeks herby and what a worrying moment. Glad all is ok and fingers crossed Cromwell stays put (but just in case, my friend had twins at 31 weeks 2 weeks before Lara was born and they're now home and absolutely fine).

Waves to everyone else !

scarlotti · 01/05/2009 21:10

Tamlin was pretty much the same but am going to invest in one or two bits this time as will be wearing them for a few months after too. The long cardy's I bought I have worn since so they're not wasted.

Wheely good to hear from you! Hope all is well and Lara is growing well and keeping you busy!

Well, have a lovely weekend ladies. Am off to visit the in-laws and not back until Tues. How will I cope without my mn fix?! Might have to find a pc up there.

Crunch I expect to see pics of trocodile by the time I get back - and not just scan pics!!

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 02/05/2009 11:00

Wheely Hope all is happy with Lara - seems like ages since she was born now (although to be fair, to me it seems like ages since Scotlass popped )

Scarlotti you probably won't get this until you get back so I hope you had a good time with the inlaws and it wasn't too stressful. I'm sure I'll still be sat here anyway, but fingers crossed I'll have my hands full

Tamlin I'm living in yoga pants at the moment, but cunningly pairing them with nice long tops.

Scorpio I always mean to sell things on, but then somehow they end up as another box of "stuff" in the attic. One day I'll have time to sort through it all

Right, I'm off into town to try to walk this one out! I'm a little concerned as my cat came in this morning and someone had put a collar and bell on him. Either there are some worried bird-watchers out there or someone is trying to steal my cat Either way I'm off to buy a collar (he lost his last one) and reclaim my cat! [on a mission emoticon]

Hi All - enjoying the lovely weather?

Am just popping in to see how Crunch is doing, and to wish Scarlotti a happy trip to Aberdeen.

Glad your mw has agreed your dates Crunch so fingers crossed you'll get your lovely home birth. My money's on Monday for you

Bumped into a friend I haven't seen for ages and met her 6 month old baby for the first time. Felt really weird about it afterwards and have only just figured out why. She and I were both due late Dec 08 - so her baby boy is what my lost baby would have been (if you see what I mean, sorry not expressing myself very well). It was quite a shock.

Keep telling myself I need to be stronger about this but damn, I do feel like lost baby grief kind of jumps out and mugs me sometimes .

OK, am off out for dinner with a lovely old friend tonight so will pull myself together and remind myself I am pregnant and happy with a different baby.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 03/05/2009 14:19

Sydney it's tough, and it's always there to leap on you when you least expect it. My friend had a baby the same time as I lost mine: sometimes I see them and I'm fine, other times it makes me wonder about all the "what if"s and makes me a bit sad. You don't need to be stronger, you need to let yourself be sad and remember sometimes. It's not a crime to feel the grief you feel, so stop punishing yourself! Hope you had a lovely time with your friend.

It is perfectly normal to be both happy about the baby on the way, and sad about the baby you lost - they're not mutually exclusive.

Oh dear, getting all bossy

Still no baby here - Monday would be perfect, I'll tell baby she's expected

OP posts:
Tamlin · 03/05/2009 15:52

Suze, I'm sorry. I'll admit that I'm surprised to find myself sad about the lost pregnancy while smack in the middle of another, and then I feel guilty for not counting my blessings properly.

Crunch, I'm voting for tomorrow morning. The midwives said that Sunday mornings were always really quiet on our hospital tour (which is why they always did the tour then!), so you could have the place to yourself.

dan39 · 03/05/2009 19:58

Yes, baby crunch - lets be having you!

sydneysuze · 03/05/2009 20:05

Thanks guys - always such a lifeline to know that people on here understand . And you're definitely not being bossy Crunch, just supportive so don't worry!

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 04/05/2009 09:22

Just checking in to say I'm still here No sign of labour yet (and I had a curry last night!).

dan good to see you

Tamlin maybe it's different on a bank holiday so baby's holding on

sydney hope you're feeling better.

Off to jump up and down for a bit. Hope all is well this morning.

Spotting really heavily again. I really thought it might have stopped - nothing for the past three days. Gaaaah.

sydneysuze · 04/05/2009 19:21

Oh Tamlin. You really are being put through the wringer with this one aren't you? How many weeks are you now?

Tamlin · 04/05/2009 20:26

Thirteen and a half. Never thought I'd join the home doppler crew, but I'm seriously considering talking dh into a purchase because all the bleeding is absolutely doing my head in.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 04/05/2009 21:11

An announcement.......

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 04/05/2009 21:18

Rufus Daniel arrived at 2.15am on sat morning weighing in at 8lb 9oz!!

He is gorgeous (I'm not biased oh no!) and am a very proud mummy albeit a very tired one.

Labour was short but def not sweet. All done with gas and air and in just over 3 hours although waters broke about 6 hours before labour officially started. I'm left with a third degree tear but not in discomfort at all thanks to a good stitching job and plenty of pain killers.

We came home yesterday and literally have spent the time since then with him on my boobs!

Haven't had time yet to read the latest on here but did I see crunch still here??? Sending you my labour vibes my lovely! xx

Wheelybug · 04/05/2009 21:40

Congratulations on Rufus LadyHelen - what a quick labour, that's the way to do it !! Hope all is well.

Crunch - by lobbing chocolate eggs at me you're encouraging me to make more irritating remarks . Hope it happens for you v.v.v.v.v.v.v. soon....

Tamlin · 04/05/2009 21:51

Oh congrats and well done, ladyhelen! Love the name, it made our short list with ds.

sydneysuze · 04/05/2009 21:56

LadyHelen Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

And welcome to His Right Lordshipfulness Rufus Daniel! Great name and quite clearly a breast man already

Am so pleased for you and your DH. Lovely news. Keep us posted please!

OK now we're just gearing up for the Crunchlet to put in an appearance...

Nice to see you Wheely how are things?

Tamlin you poor thing - hang in there, when do you next see a midwife? Mine is happy to see me every couple of weeks so if you ring yours she might 'dopple' you before 16 weeks, especially after a bleed. I'd be wary of playing with a doppler myself, especially since my consultant was unable to find my baby's heartbeat at all for 15 minutes at 20 weeks - still harbouring dark thoughts about that man ......[grrr emoticon]

So I think they're best in an experienced midwife's hands myself but can totally understand the temptation. Could you hire one for a month or so until you feel movements perhaps, and have a mw teach you?
