Evening all

tattifer, that describes me weeks 6 to about 14, I had the saharas permanently (unless I was nauseous and then the opposite).

Midwife told me to just drink, drink, drink until I felt like a walking hot water bottle. I was worried that I might drink TOO much water (the things I find to worry about!!!) but no, it seems that standing at the sink and downing 2 pints of water in about 90 seconds is fine.

tattifer · 28/03/2009 20:49

gentle saharas that's a good way to describe it.

I'm finding plain water just sets of the gag reflex. So I've got a pint of water with a bit of sugar dissolved into it. It's easier to drink. If I did 2 pints in 90 seconds I doubt it would stay down very long though

scarlotti · 28/03/2009 20:55

Evening ladies

tattifer poor you! not sure what to suggest really - how about sherbert?! Some really sour stuff to get your mouth watering!

Been to see my nephew who's 8 days old today - he was so lovely!! Was really great to have a cuddle with a newborn, made me remember what this is all about - rather than the nausea and hormones.
Thanks for all your support the other day when I was feeling so rubbish. I've managed to stay quite bright since with the odd wobble. It must be the hormones as when I feel really low, if I have a little cry I feel so much better!!

Gentle · 28/03/2009 21:00

oh dear tattifer that doesn't sound fun.

Firstly, a disclaimer about junk food, additives, sugar, etc.
Secondly, for me, strawberry Yazoo milkshake ROCKED for this problem. My corner shop had a buy one get one free recently - deep joy.

scotlass · 28/03/2009 21:21

Hi everyone

scarlotti glad you're feeling better and your nephew sounds just scrumptious . It's hard for us knicker checkers to remember that it's a baby growing inside us causing the yucky feelings but sometimes a cuddle with someone elses reminds us it'll be worth it in the end!

tattifer poor you. I've been really thirsty all the way through this pg but thirsty and puking is awful. Does the flavoured water help any?

dan - great to see you! Hope Rose is back to angel status. However you can't call her devil child just yet - you need to go through toddler tantrums and stroppy tweenies first

LoobyLou36 · 28/03/2009 23:04

hi ladies

just having a quick read through and catch up...

I'm 35wks tommorrow - still can't believe it
and despite the gestational diabetes, swollen ankles, painful pelvis and inability to sleep - happier than I've ever been

jasmaxxy · 29/03/2009 11:49

Hopeful2 · 29/03/2009 12:34

Hi ladies,

sorry I haven't been on here for a little while.
This is going to sound like a silly question but as I was discussing with some of you a few weeks a go I am being such a worry pants!
You all know my story - mc end of last yr, pg again, had brown discharge for a week but scan showed little bean with hb & that I was 7 weeks pg.
I was very very bloated for a while but the last few days I have lost that it would seem. As for pg women being constipated, I have not found this, I'm still regular every day (TMI - Sorry). Should I be worried? My boobs seem to be on & off with being sensitive. Sometimes I wake up & nothing, but then later in the day they hurt again.
I know I am being realy silly, but I can't help it.
I'm off for a weeks course today in Somerset, so I won't be able to get on the internet that often & I know I am going to worry myself silly without being able to chat to you guys....x

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 29/03/2009 13:12

jasmaxxy welcome It's tough with all the worries that go round and around your head. There are loads of ladies on here who had early bleeds that went on to be fine, but it is terrifying. Feel free to air any worries you have - there's always someone who's been through similar and can offer advice or reassurance. Will be thinking of you on Thursday.

Hopeful it isn't silly to worry - it's silly to worry alone and not ask anyone My boobs are the same - some days were so sore I could have screamed, other days deflated and "normal". Constipation can be an annoyance, as can the opposite and no problems at all is also normal. Bloating also seems to go up and down. Our bodies definitely don't help to reassure us do they

With ds1 I had no pregnancy symptoms pretty much all the way through. When I lost my baby I had severe morning sickness and bloating and sore boobs and constipation (a text book pregnancy-symptom list) but baby had died weeks earlier With ds2 I had intermittent nausea, occasional sore boobs (pretty much what you're describing) and of course I panicked all the time.

So, in conclusion, our bodies are using some cruel and unusual punishment to mess with our heads, but none of it ever indicates anything IYSWIM

Hopeful2 · 29/03/2009 13:21

Crunch Thank you. I know I'm not alone out there with my feelings. It's strange prior to my mc I also had awful sickness, constipation, headaches & then at 9.5 weeks was told no hb. This pg is very different - I wouldn't say my boobs are to the point I could scream but certainly tender some days & not so much others. No real sickness, occassional waves during the eve & thankfully no headaches this time. Like I say I am pretty regular also - so completely different to last time. I just hope that is a good sign & that all will go great this time. You are right though, our bodies really don't do anything to reasure us ladies that tend to worry about every little thing

jasmaxxy · 29/03/2009 13:44

crunch thankyou, I think the top and bottom of it all is that we can all relate to certain things, all the things, or nothing at all....in other words we are in Gods hands and the formidable words that everyone seems to say to me are indeed true, whatever will be,will be, but it sure as heck doesnt make me sleep any easier,or stop me gusset checking, infact I dunno how i will get to thursday, think I'm gonna ring tomorrow to see if they will see me earlier(hmm)

crunch Is he a cyborg?

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunchie · 29/03/2009 15:56

Could be, it might explain a lot!

scarlotti · 29/03/2009 18:18

crunch he speaks the same language as my ds!

welcome jasmaxxy there are plenty of us in the exact same boat, checking constantly - to the point that it's now just habit and done without even realising. Worry goes with the territory once something untoward has happened. Good luck for Thursday.

hopeful my symptoms seem to come and go too so don't read anything into it. Easier said than done though I know but try and hang in there

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunchie · 30/03/2009 08:42

Sooooooo sleepy. DS2 is finally asleep on the sofa. He's been up every hour all night being sick Poor little poppet.

Worst timing ever. I have my counselling session this afternoon and a MW appointment, and he can't go to nursery as planned

(D)H is going to try to come home from work early.

Feeling very sorry for myself and ds2.

As soon as ds1 is off to school I am closing my eyes for good!

lal123 · 30/03/2009 09:50

grrrrrrrr - have had to rearrange scan and booking in - now have to wait til 28th April!!!! booooooooooo

YKNC - poor little mite, and poor you - you must be knackered! You have permission to feel sorry for yourself

scarlotti · 30/03/2009 10:16

lal how irritating for you.

crunchie poor ds2, hope he's not feeling so rough now. Timing is dreadful for you though, hope you can find a way of sorting it out. Joys of long distance parents eh?

ashleighbeee · 30/03/2009 11:58

Good Monday morning to you all,

Well i have missed loads over the weekend!!

Hi there Gentle, welcome back after your little break away.. pleased to hear you're still with us.. I am 19 weeks tomorrow so we're near the same time, we'll be 1/2 way soon!

Crunch your poorley little ds2 you had a busy day planned, hopefully DH can come home early and you can get out for a while and get the bits done that you need to be done.

welcome jasmaxxy nice to see a new fellow knicker checker with us.. just hang on in there and try not to get too worried.. easier said than done i know.. I had only one bright red incident during this pregnancy, it really makes you think the worst, but i am still hanging on in at 19 weeks (well tomorrow)

Well... I recieved my scan letter this morning.... hmmm.. For this Thursday.. I wont be 20 weeks yet (never mind that) but I am SO pleased that they think 4 days notice is acceptable.. my lovely partner cannot attend as his work is planned in advance & so my lovely mum may have to come.. very annoying though, my partner is always as nervous and apprehensive as i am so we comfort eachother.. how will my mum give me the same comfort.. stupid NHS...

Well sorry i have missed so much out.. I am trying to fit this in before i scarper for my lunch..

xx

cornflakegirl · 30/03/2009 13:51

Hi everyone. Haven't posted about baby stuff in ages - have been mainly lurking - but had my 20 week scan today. Everything seems to be in the right place, so I'm a happy bunny. It was a really cool experience. When I had my detailed scan with DS the consultant didn't chat at all because the triple test had come back as high AFP, so it was all very serious. (Positive outcome though and DS fine.) But this time, the sonographer talked us through everything, and it was so amazing! Sprog kept its legs firmly together though, so we have no idea about the flavour. (Siding with its dad early on - DH didn't want to know, but I did - he was so smug afterwards! )

grinningbee · 30/03/2009 13:58

Well, things have just got interesting

I'm getting flashing lights/weird vision in one eye. Just spoken to the hospital and they've said to go in for monitoring and to take a bag just in case.

DH is now on his way home to pick me up, so I should be there in a couple of hours!

Bet I'm home later with bump still. Just thought I'd let you guys know though.

Trust me to have just eaten stinky marmite!

ashleighbeee · 30/03/2009 14:04

Oooooooooooo Go bee I hope you will have more news for us later in the week :D

congrats on good scan Cornflake how convenient for your DH that the flavour remains unknown...

xx

scarlotti · 30/03/2009 14:53

grinningbee excitement!! Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you

ashleigh grr and at the appointment time and lack of notice. It's shocking that some hospitals can get away with arranging things that way, so unfair on your dh now that he can't go. Hope it goes well for you.

cornflake congrats on a good scan. My dd refused to open her legs when I asked too and actually afterwards I was quite pleased as it stayed a surprise right until the end.

I have booked a private scan for tomorrow evening as we can't get anything on the nhs. Will be 8+4 so should see some good growth since the 6+3 one all being well. Am really hoping that this will ease things a little then, as I'm quite struggling mentally with this. Whilst I am looking forward to (hopefully) having a baby I wish I wasn't pregnant some of the time. Doesn't make sense I know, I'm wondering if it's a cross between hormones and the previous m/c's leaving me not wanting to engage in this one in case it all goes wrong?
