Uncomfortable pain in early pregnancy

I used to get quite severe period pains before I had children. After being pregnant with my dds I've never had them, and the last time I had anything similar was when I was pregnant with dd2, but it was only mild.

This pregnancy, I have had these pains for about 2 weeks (I think I may be around 6 weeks- not entirely sure). They are in my lower abdomen and occassionally in my lower back and down my thighs. Last night I was in a great deal of discomfort/pain for almost 2 hours and couldn't sleep.

I've been knicker-checking for a week, convinced I was getting a period, until I took a test and got a BFP on Friday. However, I was so worried last night that something was going wrong.

I know I had mild pains momentarily when preg with dd2 and all was fine, but this is something else. Should I be worried? Please can anyone offer any advice? Thanks

I had period type pains and backache early in this pregnancy. Everything was fine. Can't remember when it eased up.
Cold it be your normal period time?
It didn't really tally with me.

Ask a midwife/GP so they can reassure you too!

Sciatica? I have that kind of leg pain now by the way, down back of thighs. Can't wait for the last 2 months, will be fun..

Thanks for the messages WowOoo- I really hope everything is fine. I obviously haven't told GP/midwife about pregnancy yet as it's very early days.

Of course! Not 12 wks yet Dur, sorry!

If it makes you feel better the period pains were worse and achey spd or pelvic girdle pain has been sooner and more intense this pregnancy. But not too bad at mo so i'm happy.

You can still talk to a midwife though at his stage though, but how I can't remember... NHS direct?
