I know they've gone bust, but are they still trading? I've got a catalogue with some great discounts in it, but I wondered if it's safe to order from them?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Their website was 'unavailable' for ages but now it's up and running so I've been wondering the same thing. Their sale is fab!

I'm also wondering what's going on. I need to try and ring them because I sent something faulty back to them at the beginning of the yr and I haven't heard anything.

I bought something from them a month ago and it arrive fine and on time. I think they are going into liquidation or something.

HeinzSight · 20/03/2009 13:39

thanks chaya

I think its fine to buy from them online, a lady from my antenatal group oredered recently and it all arrived on time. But i would use a credit card to pay, that way your payment will be protected if anything does go wrong.

I just ordered something earlier this week and have received it already! didnt realise they had gone bust, might not have ordered if I had known!

CompareTheMeerkat · 20/03/2009 13:53

I think they have gone into administration which doesn't mean they have gone bust or are going into liquidation.

ThingOne · 20/03/2009 13:54

The shops are still trading but stock is not that reliable.

Diege · 20/03/2009 14:20

I asked about this when on the phone to them a few weeks ago. I was told that they are no longer in administration but had a 'buyer' . Assumed they would say this anyway, to keep customer's confidence and tbh would only order if I was pretty sure I wouldn;t have to return anything (for eg. wouldn;t buy maternity wear in 2 sizes to see what fit best etc). The things I ordered arrived after about 10 days and I'm pleased with them.

babyOcho · 20/03/2009 14:31

I got some catalogs from them a couple of weeks ago, so I think that they are trading.

BellaMummy · 20/03/2009 14:33

I ordered some great three-piece nursing pyjamas from them last week - reduced from £35 down to £11 - and they came within three days. I didn't realise that they had been put into administration , but probably always safe online to use your credit card for protection anyway.

dinkystinky · 20/03/2009 17:30

I think they've been bought so they're trading again...

"Blooming Marvellous has been bought out of administration by a new company formed by Ethel Austin owner Elaine McPherson. The company had financial troubles at the end of 2008 and officially went into administration in the new year. GREAT news though Elaine McPherson along with Mike Basso, owner of brand licensing specialist PanWorld Brands, and Jim McDowell, who will be managing director for the business, have bought Blooming Marvellous for an undisclosed sum from administrators MCR"

Maternity jeans in the sale for £10 made me happy. Glad they are sticking around! Hope they will still do maternity bra extenders!!

beautifulgirls · 20/03/2009 20:18

They are definately still trading from their Bluewater store.

katginger · 08/04/2009 13:42

have had a 2mth nightmare with Blooming Marvellous. Of my original order 3 items were far to big, and I was told that I would get replacements in the smaller size. Since the middle of Feb my DH and I have been chasing them, and we've been told items were being waited for, then something was damaged, but that last week they had been sent and were on their way. Today we discovered this was a huge web of lies spun by the customer services dept. They didn't have replacement items in stock and were just hoping that we would wait so fobbed us off with lies. We were asked if we wanted to recieve the 3 items in the original size 16 from a depot in Eccles (I live in W.Yorks!)

It's totally unacceptable and besides reporting them to Which? and Watchdog I thought I'd let people know on Mumsnet that this company has no clue how to treat it's customers so please be warned.
