I have been having abnormal smears every 6 months for the last 6.5 years. I have had 2 colposcopies which were normal and I'm due a third in May but I'll be roughly 30 weeks pregnant. I assumed they would postpone it especially as the last two were clear but I have been googling and it seems they would normally carry out the procedure- don't think I fancy it though. Would you?

They didn't do one on me when I was 10 months pg - they waited untill 3 months post partum.

10 weeks pregnant!

Athough I really have been pregnant for 10 months each pregnancy, blieve me!

i wouldn't fancy it but you will definately not feel like it for a while after birth and it will be one less thing to worry about. They won't do any treatment - just have a look.

There are risks though, right? Don't think its worth it. I am having an elective so won't have any fanjo issues- as such.

I have had abnormal smears, colposcopies, etc, and was told that nothing would be done during my pregnancy - even the checkup smear due when I will be 7 months.
Unless they tell you that there are very compelling medical reasons to do it in your individual case, I would wait until after.

Thats what I was thinking and hoping Jem. I still see my gynaecologist whilst I am pg, but that is less invasive.

Suwoo I had a abnormal smear last year & prior to the doc doing a another test 6 months later I fell pregnant, they refused to even do a smear test while pregnant. Had a MC at 10 weeks & was told I could re-test after 3 months (when hormones are back to normal). Had another abnormal (mild) smear last month & was booked an appnt for colposcopie next month, I have since found out I am pregnant again & due to last MC they have advised against the colposcopie until at least 4 months after giving birth. They also said it might have been down to the fact I was pregnant when the smear was done because of my hormones hence why only boarder-line mild abnormal.
So after all that chatter, I would suggest not to go a head until after baby is born
