How many cups of tea are safe during pregnancy when you've miscarried 4 times before?

I've had 4 miscarriages and 3 children and am almost 40 so you'd think I'd be an "old" hand at this! But I'm not but I do vaguely remember that caffine needs to be cut down during pregnancy cos it is vaguely possible to cause miscarriage. Could anyone update me? My last child was born in 2006 and all these safe and non safe things change so rapidly.

I think it is four regular cups (ie: not big Starbucks ones). I have been using the decaf teabags and can't taste the difference to be honest. Otherwise, I have been leaving the tea bag in for much shorter amount of time.

Hmm, what tea bags are you using. I'm a PG girl but their decaff ones are AWFUL! I'd rather go down the route of waving the normal bags at the cup! Thanks for that info. 4 - hmmm that might prove harder than the sudden zero alcohol - wish my taste buds would help out here and go off such things!

Hiya. Yeah, it's 4 regular cups or 2 mugs of tea. I like the PG decaff bags! I also read if you dip the teabag for less time it makes a difference too.

I haven't really gone off tea or coffee! I went off coffee in my previous pregnancy which resulted in a miscarriage. I just try to limit the caffeine now. x

The best decaff tea I've found is Yorkshire Tea - I tried Tetley decaff first and it was bloody awful. But the decaff YT really doesn't taste that different. (I like a strong brew). This months Sainburys Magazine has a an article all about caffeine. It says the FSA recently reduced the limit for preggers ladies from 300mg to 200mg caffeine daily, but there may be some evidence that the risks appear to start rising at only 100mg. 1 cup of tea is 50mg...
I can stick a couple of teabags in the post if you wanted to try it?

At the start of my pg was told 6 cups of tea a day and since it seems to have dropped to 4. I have probably had 300mg through my pregnancy (same levels as usual really). I think if I was worried about it causing miscarriage though I would try and cut it out because it is impossible to say what is safe and what isn't.

I've been having one normal mug a day and the rest are de-caff. I don't mind the pg tips ones.
