Hig Wycombe hospital

Hi, Does anyone know anything about the current state of wycombe hospital? Is the maternity ward there new? I live in wycombe but did no get asked by my GP which hospital I wanted to go to. I am 7 weeks pregnant with my 1st so not sure how it all works.

Hi there, i had ds1 at Wycombe, and i'm really sorry but i wasnt impressed They lost my booking bloods and the retakes and the next retakes, so i didnt have any booking blood taken till i was 28 weeks pregnant, they messed up appointment times and i seemed to spend the whole of my pregnancy chasing them up! The postnatal care and breast feeding support were awful too and i just couldnt wait to get home.

I went to the John Radcliffe in Oxford for ds2 and ds3 and will be heading there again for dc4 who's due in August. I have to say they are absolutely wonderful, the clinics run on time, the staff actually appear to like working there, the consultants are fab and the whole place just runs really well. No chasing appointments etc etc

All that said, ds1 in nearly 7 so alot could have changed at Wycombe in that time. Maybe you could enquire about the labour ward tours they offer and go and see what you think? Sorry i dont have anything positive to contribute, but congratulations on your babies

I had my first in a london hospital and ended up with a forceps delivery and baby being resucitated! My 2nd and 3rd were at Wycombe and I found them to be fantastic! Midwives were great, supportive - even encouraged me to have a waterbirth with the 3rd which was fab. Cannot praise them all enough. That said not sure if the maternity unit will have moved to Stoke Mandeville by the time you are due??

Hi, Had DS in London which was fab, moved out here and had DD at home with wycombe support who were wonderful. I think that Wycombe is noe a low risk unit, with all the maternity services based at stoke mandeville but their website should give you all the info. Hope that helps.

Hi, I had my DS at Wycombe in July 06. I was booked in for a homebirth but due to him being 11days over and also the blistering heat I opted in the end for induction. I have to say that the staff were fantastic and I had the best care that I could have had. It wasn't what I had wanted,as I wasn't at home, but was the best alternative. I am now booked into have the next there (due in four weeks) if the current homebirth plan goes by the wayside.
By the way, Wycombe is still offering the full service.
