Consultant Scan at 10+3: what will they see?

I phoned today to book in my 12 week scan, expecting it to be in a couple of weeks as am only just over 10 weeks.

However they said I should be under consultant care because I have had a blood cot in the past and am protein c deficient. This is fine, except they said I should have had it between 8 and 10 weeks.

No drama - they are fitting me in tomorrow.

But I asked if i would still get a scan at 12/13 weeks and they said no. Am not greedy and don't want to squander NHS resources, but will a 10 week scan give me the same (or give them the same, more likely) results as a 12/13 week? IE will they be able to do the Nuchal fold test. Babies grow a lot from 10 weeks to 12, don't they?

The lady on the phone said 'oh your photo won't be as clear' but I'm not concerned about that. It's whether the SCAN will be as clear that concerns me.

Has anyone had anything similar?

Thanks x

I had a scan at what I thought was 12 weeks but turned out to be 10 and they called me back for a repeat scan two weeks later. The jellybean had undergone an amazing transformation from tiny pod person to definite baby in those two weeks but they seemed to be able to see all they needed too. However we don't have free nuchal testing here - and I think that has to be at 11 weeks minimum, but am not sure.
We were called back because at 10 weeks there was still some bowel outside of bubs on the umbilical cord and they wanted to check it all went inside okay. Which it did. They might do the same for you if it hasn't shifted in yet...

Ah ok, thanks Poppet! I am kind of expecting this to be a wee bit too early but I will see what they say... and what they see!

I had a scan at 10 weeks and could definitely see a baby shaped baby with arms and legs bouncing around. not sure re nuchal, i know there is a window of opportunity up to when it can be done.. 14 weeks IIRC, but not sure when the window starts, thikn it is around 11 weeks as poppet says

you need to call them in the morning perhaps and double check

you might need to have it done privately, unless you are in the right category for the NHS one
