I've just tested and got a bfp which is good i think ?
We are really longing for a sibling for our 5 year old daughter but i dont know how to feel about this pregnancy .
I dont really want checking on all the time because it stresses me out but then if i dont get a scan or something i will be worring until i do :-S
has anyone been through this before or offer any advice ?

hi tink I had 2 miscarriages last year then found out I was pg at Christmas, quite quick after the last mc. The 1st 12 weeks were a bit stressfull, I had spotting from weeks 5 to 9 and had scans at weeks 7, 9 and 11, but I'm now 16+6 weeks, and am starting to relax a bit. It is hard, and the only explanation I got was that I've been very unlucky, twice! I have a ds already who's 6 so the thought that I can do it kept me going. Good luck, I do hope all goes well with you

Hi Tink congratulations on your pregnancy.

There are lots of us on here with similar experiences to you - check out the pregnancy after miscarriage/knicker checkers anonymous thread and you'll see what I mean. I had an early MC (my 2nd) in November 08 then fell pregnant straight away in Dec 08 - I'm now 14 weeks today

Like VJay (Hi missus! ((waves to VJay))) I had spotting from weeks 5 to 8 and scans at week 5+3 and 8+3. I'd advise phoning your local Early Preg Unit once you are about 7 weeks to see if you can get a scan - although scans can be very scary after any MC experience there's nothing like the reassurance seeing a heartbeat can bring.

Best of luck with your pregnancy and keep us posted!

Hi tink, don't want to rock your boat and really hope that you are pregnant, but the hormones can take a long time to clear from your system. Some girls on here have had BFPs up to 6 weeks after a miscarriage when they haven't even started trying again yet.

Did you have any ovulation signs in between, Did you get a BFN first?

Really hope this isn't going to bring you down - just wanted to make sure you knew the facts.

hi lionstar ,
i've been under the care of my local epu for the last 11 weeks being hcg tested as i had a seven week long slow miscarriage and they discharged me 4 weeks ago with hcg of zero so i defo know its a new pregnancy but thanks for your concern x

In that case - congratulations! It isn't easy I know (I had mmc last November) and you don't ever stop worrying. I've got a 12 week scan on Friday and am totally sick with anticipation. Hopefully with your history your EPU can help with some form of reassurance as you go along. Best of luck!

Hi there tink08, sorry you are feeling so anxious. I think it's very natural after even one mc let alone 2.

I am currently 38+3 weeks pg (about to pop!) and I got pg straight away after a mc last June. I think it was only something like 35 days from start of mc to BFP! I had an early scan at 8+4 and was sooooooo relieved to see a HB and an 8 week sized foetus. The mw was very understanding about why I wanted the scan early as I was utterly terrified! She also said that while 1 mc is really common, 2 mc isn't as uncommon as you would think (sadly) - try to keep in your mind that you have just been very unlucky and there is no reason why this pg won't go well. Chin up and roll on your scan...

The EPU said I could ring them at ANY time if I was worried - maybe you could do that?

Good Luck
CE xx

Hi there,

Like ChocEclair, I had an MC on the 1st August last year but got a BFP 6 weeks later. I am now 28 weeks PG and everything has been fine.

Please try not to worry, the first 12 weeks are the hardest, but I also had a scan at 8 weeks and it was a relief to see the little one.

Good luck honey and keep your chin up.

xxx
