Overdoing it???

I am 24 weeks with baby no2 and have just had a huge lecture from my Mum having mentioned that I mowed the lawn today. It only took about 10 mins and I did not over-exert myself. Is that really over-doing it?? If I thought I was, I wouldn't have done it. Surely it isn't as bad as lugging DD1 around town when her legs get tired!

I agree with you, sometimes the hardest work is in relation to the older one!

My mum has no idea what "overdoing it" is by what she thinks is overdoing it when she hears what I get up to. She thinks just raising my three kids is overdoing it! Mowing the lawn sounds like great gentle activity in the second trimester! The lugging of toddlers (or, as I was, pushing one in the buggy and lugging another who was sleeping on the way to collect my other from school) as ill-advised as it is, still has to continue as needs must (speaking as one who is 34 weeks). I hope your mum realises this! You are best placed to know whether you have gone beyond the point of what was acceptable for you physically so trust in yourself.

Its mum madness - my mother frets everytime she sees me so much as lift a shopping bag. God knows what she thinks i do with hefty 15 month old who would much rather be carried than walk.

I would say lawn mowing is fine!

it's ridiculous you will be fine

stay fit and you will feel far better afterwards

i mow lawns - fell trees - lug 19 babies round till due date!

Lawn mowing sounds fine to me! If it's any help I'm 19 weeks and in the last week have done several 'over-exerting it' activities like carrying 2 yr old dd on my shoulders, going in the loft and lugging suitcase full of outgrown clothes into cupboard. I'm just extra careful when carrying out these ill-advised activities, making sure I lift properly etc!!
