Don't think its weight or age!! I'm 30 and am just the same. I'm normally a size 8-10, very athletic with what I thought were strong tummy muscles and am expecting my first but am already huge too. Had to go mat shopping at 15 weeks as was down to my last button on my last trousers. No particular weight gain on arms, legs, arse or chest, all bump. Frankly I look a bit silly. Hubby is a strapping chap and I think the jellybean is going to be a whopper - was in 90 percentile for crown to rump measurement at 12 weeks. Uh oh.
Am hoping bumps grow at different rates and jnr slows down a bit at some point...
Anyway good luck!

Well, I'm also 42, only 7wks pregnant and already can't do up most of my trousers (well I can, but they're too uncomfortable to wear). I've bought a belly-band thing to wear over them with the buttons undone. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've started showing fairly early each time although never quite as early as this.

I know it's all water at this stage, but a bit frustrating as don't really want to tell anyone yet as it's so early. They'll just have to think I've been eating too much!

Poppet45 I was exactly the same as you. The weight gain slowed down in the 3rd trimester for a while and then boomed again in the last weeks.

DD is 99th centile or above for height and weight. Neither me nor dh are tall or big. Must be the milkman.

I am the same - 2nd pregancy, I looked about 5 months when I was only 3 - even other mums of 2+ kids were shocked!

I think it is a combination of age, having a few extra pounds already on board and your body knowing what to expect - everything is softer and more ready to expand. I was in some of my maternity wear from about 9 weeks!

LissyGlitter · 18/03/2009 18:02

I'm 4 weeks, but i looked pregnant before I was cos I never toned up after the last one!

Tillyscoutsmum · 18/03/2009 18:04

I was mahoosive all the way through pregnancy. Normal trousers wouldn't do up at 6 weeks but dd was 99th centile as well and I had fibroids which made me look even bigger

SOH - we must have the same milkman Neither dh nor I are especially tall/big
