I was due yesterday but i really feel like im sitting on the babys head i can barely sit down without having to lie back or keep off my underneath. Been having pains but not regular for over 10 days and they just seem to be getting worse. This is my first baby so i have absolutely no idea what to expect and iv just satrted to panic as my pain threshold is tiny!!

Hoping to have a sweep at my next mw appointment as i just really want this baby out now!! lol

Anyone else overdue and feel like its never going to end lol?

Here are some tried and tested ways of bringing on labour. Some are a tad odd!!

masturbation
korean food (particularly kimchi)
flying a kite after eating korean food
suck your thumb
take a hot shower
eat papaya
sweeping
mopping
weeding the garden
cleaning the dishwasher out
laying a patio
laying wooden flooring
wiping all the lampshades
sex 3 times in close succession. elevate hips after sex to coat cervix in semen.
swinging on a swing
blowing up balloons
listening to very loud music
star jumps
bouncing on a trampoline
wiping the walls
orange juice
rhubarb
doing handstands in a swimming pool
raspberry and cranberry juice
rotating their hips on a birthing ball
washing the car
meal of lobster and champage
fish and chips
swimming breaststroke
figs
mini golf
bowling
pilates
chamomile tea
tamarind tea
cinnamon tea - put cinnamon sticks and boil them into a tea
ginger
spunk mixed with yogurt
massaging the roof of the mouth??
mix ketchup, soda and bbq sauce and pour over chicken wings??

yes i know some are a tad bizarre!!

This is the awful bit for a lot of people.

I read somewhere "Pregnancy doesn't last 9 months, it lasts 8 months and 12 years."

Have you tried going to the swimming pool and walking up and down in waist deep water? It really made my bump feel supported and I was able to straighten out my spine for a bit. My feet even felt normal by the end. Briefly.

Hope it's not too long for you now.

Ohforfoxsake · 16/03/2009 16:09

have you got a birthing ball to sit on? about the only way to sit comfortably.

Its hideous, isn't it? But it passes.

You may well surprise yourself when it comes to what pain you can handle, and besides, that's what painkillers are for

Good luck, it is scary, but also very exciting

mum2b09 · 16/03/2009 16:10

My friend said she drank the juice all day every day and it worked after 3 but maybe the baby was just going to come then anyway.

Sugarkane · 16/03/2009 16:59

The best way to get baby out is to give up all hope that it will come before induction and baby will come, worked for me.

Sugarkane · 16/03/2009 17:02

Oh and dont be scared you will know you are in labour when the time comes, just listen to your body and let it take the lead, its amazing how it knows what to do. I dont have a great pain threshold but in fact I actually loved my labour. It is the best and most rewarding thing you can do. .

Wolfblass · 17/03/2009 17:15

I was due on Sunday too!

Some of those are craking!

I'm thinking of trying this one:

flying a kite after eating korean food

pmsl

nappyaddict · 18/03/2009 18:16

So mum2be and wolf have either of you tried anything off the list yet

Portofino · 18/03/2009 18:46

I'm quite intrigued by the spunk and yoghurt I must admit! Do you eat it, apply it/stick it up your fanjo, what?

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2009 18:48

PLan something important for the day after tomorrow. Put a huge deposit down. Something you really don't want to miss.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2009 20:02

Portofino - best to give it the double whammy i reckon

Portofino · 18/03/2009 20:49

Yuck! Mind you I was induced. It's a toss up whether people sticking things up your fanjo or eating spunk and yoghurt is the more pleasant way to go......I know that DH REFUSED to shag me. Mind you I looked like a baby elephant (or maybe a teenage one) so i probably can't blame him. This put paid to many other options on the list too, particularly the star jumps!
