How many planned c-section women have gone into labour early??

I'm booked in for a week on friday, they won't let me try for a natural delivery due to 2 previous sections. Just wondering how common it is that a woman expecting a planned section on a certain date, goes into labour before that date. did it happen to you?I'm convinced my waters are just going to pop any day now, just becuase i've managed to be organised and prepared for it coming in a week and a half.

I did with no 3. DD was born on 06.02.2009 should have been a planned section (after 2 previous) on 10th!!

McDreamy · 16/03/2009 13:28

She was born by section - they wouldn't let me labour.

Me, I had an emergency section at 35 weeks because I was in labour and I have a scar type they don't like to labour.

why can't you VBAC? It's unusual now just on numbr of previous sections.

I would have loved the choice of a natural labour, but my previous sections were emergencies and fairly recent, both under 3 years ago, so the hospital gave me no choice. I know if i go into labour they won't let me deliver naturally and have totally accepted that, its the best option for both baby and me.

I have found it very odd knowing the day my baby is going to be born for so long, and got my brain used to idea that its coming on that date and have planned accordingly. I have 2 small children and have had the opportunity to organise where they are going on the day i go into hospital etc, so my head is thinking, baby is coming in just under 2 weeks.

But the thought rarely crosses my mind that i could still go into labour early and the baby could arrive sooner. So i guess i'm just curious as to how common it is for women to have their planned c-section babies before the planned date, regardless of how they deliver.

hope that makes sense.

McDreamy, can't believe yours was so close to the actualy date you were booked in for.

i'm in the same situation - CS planned but baby is fully engaged, cervix is short and midwife is convinced I'm going to go before! Have been told to get to hospital as soon as I feel contractions/waters break etc - first time so not sure what it will be like.

Good luck holding on

3rd c-section (following 2 emergencies)planned for week before due date - went into labour 10 days before due date - just like I had with my first two

buttercreamfrosting · 16/03/2009 14:17

should add was pleased since although didn't have a problem with sections - I was glad ds3 arrived when he was supposed to IYKWIM.

babyc - good luck. i'm seeing the midwife tomorrow, baby was head down but not engaged last week, so we'll see what this week brings. My contractions started really mildly last time and increased gradually from Braxton hicks to mega painful over the space of a week! my waters broke on their own at around 5cms and it was like a tap had been turned on, but i knwo other women who have just had a gentle but obvious trickle. good luck!!!!

thanks diddle - let me know how you get on. My CS has just been brought forward, but only by a day! Still have 3 weeks to go, so I'm not going too far from home, and carrying maternity notes at all times!
