you might have an infection - best get it checked pronto.

Lulumama · 16/03/2009 12:46

losing brown or fresh blood in pregnancy is not normal, but it is not always anything sinister. have you had sex in the last day or so? you might have a cervical erosion and the intervourse can cause a wee bit of spotting, it is not sinister. i would call your MW though, to be checked out.

diddle · 16/03/2009 13:40

I would definitly get it checked, your local EPAU should see you, or call your midwife. They will arrange a scan just to check, its so much easier than one minute trying to keep your hopes positive and the next thinking the worst.

I notice you posted this a few hours ago, maybe you're at the hospital already, hope all is ok.

Mama2Leah just to let you know most EPUs won't see women after 16 or 18 weeks depending on your area - you may be best going to GP if you can be seen today and asking to refer for scan (mine did it the same day although the hospital then refused to scan me as they could hear baby's heartbeat ).

Another option is going straight to labour ward - they are often v sympathetic and can scan you on portable scanner. Remember they will want to do an internal etc. first. Don't go to A&E if you can avoid. Btw erosion is quite a common cause and as Lulumama said, if you've recently had sex could be related to that. Hope things go well for you xx

Lulumama · 16/03/2009 14:37

phone the antenatal ward and explain, they will most likely ask you to come in fro some monitoring

mama2leah · 16/03/2009 14:40

Personally I wouldn't be happy with that. Did you tell them about your aches and pains? Is your GP nice? Could you try asking them? PS even if the discharge stops I would still go to labour ward tomorrow (or today if you can get away with it).

mama2leah · 16/03/2009 15:23

they sed go a&e as i havent had my 20 week scan yet...i have a 7 and half month old baby, waitin endlessly in a&e isnt a realistic option for me... told them abt aches..and pains...

Okay in my hospital they send you straight to labour ward or antenatal day assessment unit from a & e if you're past 18 weeks (I wasn't unfortunately!) I'm not sure why they're telling you to go to A&E just because you haven't had a 20 week scan. If I were you, and if you've had no luck with GP I'd go down to labour ward or antental day ward and try to actually see someone. Is the discharge / pain getting any worse. If you have to go to A&E you're better of going now than after 6pm.

mama2leah · 16/03/2009 15:33

im jus gonna monitor it rite now..c how it goes... thanx for the advice...Gp sed cal bak after 6pm

Glad discharge has stopped, pains might be totally unrelated, have you any symptoms of water infection? Yey for 20 week scan that should give you reassurance.
