what does amniotic fluid look like??

there will be TMI in this post sorry...

Im 39+5 weeks pregnant and iv just been the toilet for a wee and as i was weeing i felt abit of an uncontrollable gush at the same time.. i dont know if this was just me bursting for a wee or my waters have gone??

It didnt look like wee it was still like kind of a yellowy colour but it looked really cloudy as if it has bits in it.. maybe i have a UTI? and i cant explain the smell but it didnt smell like wee.. help lol

I'm no expert (my waters broke secinds before the DSs were born) but if it soedn't smell like wee, there's a pretty good chance that your waters have gone isn't there?!

I thought amniotic fluid would be clear tho and iv tried googleing it and there are loads of diffrent opinions on what it looks and smells like im confused lol

it could be amniotic fluid, it can be straw coloured or pink , or clear. it can have bits in it too

also, you cannot stop the flow of it, unlike wee

put a pad on, check in an hour and call labour ward for further advice

it sounds like a leak rather than your waters have properly gone

Did it smell like sperm? Amniotic fluid does in my experience.

might there be a bit of show and wee in it? Wouldn't be clear would it?

I cant say it smelt like sperm stripeyknickers it was more just like a sweet smell nothing like wee.. Have done lulumama if it is my waters what should i expect to be in the pad?

well, if the pad is soaked, then you are eitehr incontinent or your waters rae leaking.

look for clear/yellowish/pinkish tinged fluid that smells sweetish or of sperm

with dd they broke them and they were pink with blood

with ds1 they broke them and they were clear, as were the 30 other gushes i had every time i contracted.

with ds2 they broke a few contractions before his head came out and they were yellowish with a huge big chunk of bloody mucus and assorted other horribleness.

so in answer to your question... it differs alot but it sounds like yours have gone

my waters went spontaneously and they were like a straw coloured sweet smelling liquid a bit thicker than water and they will keep coming whether you cross your legs or not try to encourage your baby to move about and see if any more come out. put a pad on and call the lab our ward. they will probably ask you to go in to check but it sounds like your waters have broken

i hope im not just incontinent i have weed a couple of times when iv sneezed unexpectidly haha

The midwife said to me yesterday that if my waters broke it would smell sweet so def keep an eye on it and if in doubt call the midwife. Good luck :D
