Hi all,

Am 37+3 today and over last week or two baby has been getting the hiccups so often - like 3 or 4 times a day. Is this normal? A good/bad sign?

Tis most bizarre feeling!

I think it's supposed to be good, a sign that their reflexes are working well, sucking, swallowing, etc.

i was just about 2 post about this im 39+5 and my babys had the hiccups on and off for the past few days.. baby seems fine but it is abit weird when your trying to sleep or eat and your stomachs bouncing round!

DS hicupped like crazy before he was born. Still does actually. Don't think it's anything to worry about at all.

WelliesAndPyjamas · 13/03/2009 14:09

It's normal. Both mine were in-womb hicuppers (sp). DS1 carried on for the first 3/4 months and DS2 looks set to do the same.

Perfectly normal - is practice breathing for unborn babies. Both mine hiccupped tonnes inside and for several times a day for many months outside....

Hi there, I'm 38+4 and my baby generally has the hiccups 3 or 4 times a day. I mentioned this to the midwife and she laughed and told me that the baby would be a hiccuper outside the womb. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Cosmo, I get this a lot and its quite violent now the baby is full term. Think its a good sign and not an indicator of anything being bad for baby in future.

BikeRunSki · 13/03/2009 20:12

Was normal for me. I loved it!

absolutely normal.
both my boys were hiccupers inside and then when they came out.
osteopath sorted it out once they were out though

I had this too, with both DC. They are indeed hiccuppers still, at 6yo and 4yo
