I had an accident in work yesterday, where I squirted a particularly nasty drug into my eye.
It was irrigated with water and I was sent to Occ Health and seen by the eye clinic. I was also advised by Occ Health to speak to our EPU and tell them what had happened and see if I could get an early scan or at least speak to a consultant.

I rang the EPU this morning and spoke to whoever answered the phone, I told them what had happened but didnt name the drug, she spoke to consultant who said there was absolutely no risk, regardless of the drug and no need for a scan!

Do you think this is right or should I push to speak to someone in person

Even if the drug were one that could affect foetal development when encountered via the eye, could anything show up so soon?

I dont know, but wouldnt you want to speak to someone or at least have a scan to check if they could see anything?

you need to speak to someone (perhaps your GP) to find out the exact risks of getting the drug in your eye and what possible effects it could have on your baby. then consider if you need a scan and what would you do if it was affected.

I was thinking about contacting drug information at the hospital as I doubt my gp would have much experience of this type of drug

good idea - or pharmacist? was thinking GP could perhaps look it up but could well be a bit clueless and just fob you off.

Yes - pharmacist might be useful
