Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

ermintrude I think your sarnie and chips sounds divine!

bonzo love the stripes and the shoes! She is so cute!!

JJ oh no! Poor Verity and you! I hope you both get through this okay!

Okay, how come 1 hour after I tell DH 'nope, no heartburn today' it comes back so bad I am coughing? I have Gaviscon...guess I'm going to have to take some. YUCK!

BonzoDoodah · 13/03/2009 16:43

[runs to catch up] Oh good grief jj a bad night ahead. Hope you're not up too late or in the night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed M doesn't catch it - there were 4 in her room in nursery yesterday morning and only 2 by 2 pm! Lovely petri-dishes these nurseries.

johnworf · 13/03/2009 19:36

bonzo love the feet pic on your profile. Sorry, bit of a delayed reaction. The tights are fab too! I want a pair

ermintrude of course you are right. A little bit of knowledge is very dangerous. I'm coming down with a sore throat so perhaps that is the culprit but whatever it is, I'll have it looked at by GP next week.

JJ Slattery's is not a house of slatterns but a fine chocolatier and pattiserie. They made the Rooney's wedding cake (which probably cost a small fortune). We're having K's christening/birthday cake from there although I haven't told DH that it's £50 yet (and that's for a 7" one). Mebbe I'll just tell him it's one I picked up from ASDA floria knows the place as she's from around these parts.

bonzo the autistic spectrum is so wide and varying. Asperger's has many symptoms, all of which can constitute the condition. With DSS he has his little ways and gets quite upset if they're not adhered to. For example if you said to him we're having lunch at 12 o'clock he would expect that lunch was at 12 and not 11.59 nor 12.01. He clock watches a lot. He goes through phases of liking certain foods and hating foods that he's previously loved. One week he'll love beans on toast and want that for every meal and after about 2 weeks it'll be something else. If you told him a joke he completely does not get it at all. You have to explain it to him and even then he's no idea. If you read a story he does not anticipate or imagine what is happening. He can't. A story is just words on a page to him. He also becomes obsessed and fixated with certain things. He'll only play one certain game on his xbox for weeks, relentlessly. Then he'll move on to something else.

So as you can see, strict routine is what keeps him ticking We've just got used to it and don't give it a second thought now.

mrsb you mention cake that you haven't eaten? Isn't that like saying you got Jose Mourino (sp?) on the bed and said nah...not tonight, I've got a headache?

mrsboogie · 13/03/2009 19:54

yeah its a bit like that jw except the cake probably smelled even better than Jose would (maybe)

gawd I hate this new Asian actor on Corrie - they always go for the hammiest Asian actors - so clichéd and stereotypical.

johnworf · 13/03/2009 20:00

mrsb I can't believe it's not ....Jose!

Oh yeah the asian guy. Butterball. £1 says steve and becky get married with the usual 'oh my god will it happen' moments along the way. sigh.

johnworf · 13/03/2009 20:02

Kevin Whately just been on during the ad break. I can't look at him now without uttering the words 'shagger'. I told DH he was a 'shagger' and he looked at me blankly, not having a clue what sex or shagging is anymore. Bless.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2009 20:17

Really. Pregnant women shouldn't watch Comic Relief. I'm a puddle over here.

mrsboogie · 13/03/2009 20:27

a puddle of what tee?

err I know what happens jw - won't spoil it for you.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2009 20:31

Well, mrsb there's the puddle of drool over David Tennant. Even in that horrid suit.

There's the puddle of tears over the story of the little girl ringing on Christmas because her parents were drunk.

Oh and a puddle of wee...well, not that one, but I am running to the loo again!

jeanjeannie · 13/03/2009 20:38

Hahahah JW me too - I saw Kevin Whately and that raced through my mind. Then I got to thinking...."Would I?"....Nah, probably not. Not got the energy these days and anyway - no one would want me...not today...I stink of sick

mrsB If my FIL looked Asian then he'd look like Dev's uncle

bonzo love the tights! Oh and petri-dishes are great way of describing nurseries!

LOVE the sound of Slatterys - cake seems a veritable bargin Ah - treat yerself - it's not like it's something you do every week, just make sure that she waits till her wedding before you have to buy another cake from there

OK - I know I said I'd developed a sartorial bypass since leaving the world of fashion and having kids BUT, I strangely like Becky's wedding outfit................ OK , I really have lost all sense of taste haven't I........................

jeanjeannie · 13/03/2009 20:40

Gosh tee you want to watch all that moisture...you'll get rising damp

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 13/03/2009 20:47

haha tee that's a soggy evening you're having there

jj I quite like it too - it suits her - lol at her shoving the chicken fillets in her bra

jw I hope we shall see a piccy of said cake in due course?

OH's dad is picking up that IKEA cot for us at the weekend - and they are paying for it - v nice of them

I have decided on these to go in it

Am going to have to think of a really nice Mother's Day pressie for OH's mum what with everything she does for us - any suggestions ladies'?

Tee2072 · 13/03/2009 20:55

Oooh, I really like that cot set, mrsb. I am still trying to find one!

mrsboogie · 13/03/2009 20:58

yeah suitable for boy or girl tee its funny I haven't looked around much but there aren't as many as I thought there would be - maybe I've been looking in the wrong places...

haha the wedding was v funny

johnworf · 13/03/2009 21:46

I lurve that bedding set mrsb. Right up my street.

JJ you have lost it haven't you dear? Pink meringue dress (is that how you spell it?) I guess you've got one of those dollies that you stuff a loo roll up her dress, haven't you?

Trying not to watch the sad bits on comic relief. Make me too upset, especially the dying baby ones

I do have a link to said cake. And here it is. Also note from that link it's a bit cheaper than I thought. Fab! I also note a typo that it says it's 7 feet (7') Should I let them know or insist that's what I paid for so they have to honour it?

Tee2072 · 13/03/2009 21:49

Yes JW insist on the 7 foot cake! Its beautiful!

johnworf · 13/03/2009 21:58

tee not sure even I could do justice to a 7 foot cake! How would we get it through the door???

peachyfox · 13/03/2009 22:34

johnworf couldn't you just eat round the edges until you have clearance?

mrsboogie · 13/03/2009 22:39

jw that is a beautiful cake - I love decorated cakes like that especially ones with flowers on.

ps don't worry if its 7ft - we'll all come and eat round it in circles until it is small enough to fit in your front door
only too glad to be of service...

johnworf · 13/03/2009 23:10

lol. Well if it does arrice and it is 7 feet wide, then I'll be on here post haste and inviting you all along, with all the babies too!

I'm soooo gonna dream of big cakes tonight

johnworf · 13/03/2009 23:48

mrsb in answer to your question, what can you get your MiL...what about one of these? Every home should have one

mrsjupiter · 14/03/2009 02:07

You guys are so prolific that I've only had time to catch up on what's been written since I last posted. So let me see - 7 foot cake, anchovies, whitebait, malibu meringue, dripping fried chips, multi-grain rolls, sausages (did I miss anything?) all yum. Plus pretty much anything that wasn't mentioned - yum. Including the dark chocolate brownies with milk chocolate chips I made last Saturday. So everyone knows where I stand.

I know there were lots of other things I wanted to comment on. Funny how my brain focused on the food. Shame. Oh yes, I know I wanted to say ARSE.

jw thanks for doing the introductions. I wasn't sure what to do about it and didn't want to make my post any longer than it was. Yes I am an expat, was evacuated by ambulance to Hong Kong when it became obvious they weren't going to do anything to help me in China and gave birth 45 minutes after arriving at the hospital. Eva was 27 + 6. Hello everyone who doesn't know me - nice to meet you. Those who do, thank you for the lovely welcome back. Recent photos of Eva now posted.

Will continue in separate post as this is getting to be long again. Oh the problems of not posting regularly!

mrsjupiter · 14/03/2009 02:22

JJ sorry to hear about Iris - it's the uncertainty that's killing isn't it. It must be a huge relief now that you're on the road to knowing what you're dealing with. If AS is confirmed, you might be interested in a book called Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet who has AS. I haven't read it but I heard him speak on the radio promoting a different book.

Born on a Blue Day is his autobiography and from what I understand it deals, among other things, with how he taught himself to interact socially. If you want to hear the interview, it was on Start the Week and you can Listen Again on the R4 website. If nothing else I think it would add to the hugely reassuring comments you've had from everyone here about people they know with AS.

Gotta go. Eva woken up from the first of her many day-time naps. She can't stay awake for more than an hour-and-a-half without getting grumpy. Hope to be back later.

Tee2072 · 14/03/2009 07:16

Good morning all.

Woke up at 2 for my loo run...then kept up by baby kicks, which is nice, but not very restful!

I love how everyone went for the 'eat it until it fits through the door option' as opposed to 'use a knife to trim it' option.

mrsjupiter that must have been so scary. So I guess in China they just let premies die? How sad. And Eva is beautiful!

LOL JW at the action figure.

johnworf · 14/03/2009 08:06

mrsJ great to see you back. Your punishment for not dropping in to see us all often enough is volumes of our navel gazing for you to wade through Can't believe how Eva has grown! She's beautiful. I'll certainly be looking that book out too and listening to R4 interview. Missed it first time around. DSS has Asperger's too.

tee thanks for giving the thumbs up for my choice of mother's day prezzies. Please note that not only is it poseable, it has wheels too Obviously a boon for any religious icon.

K used to do the 6am break dancing session on my bladder so I feel your pain tee

I'm off to make a small hillock of sandwiches and other tasty comestibles for our jaunt to the zoo. DSS doesn't want to go (he wants Blue Planet where he's already been and likes - another AS trait) so should be a fun day I'm trying to jolly him along with the timetable for feeding the animals but it's not working. K's not bothered one way or the other so long as there's no poo in her nappy. That girl does not like dirty knickers one little bit. I can see a faint patch of blue sky so mebbe..........

Catch ya laters, taiters. x
