do you think it would be possible to experience symptoms, have a negative hpt and still be pregnant?

can you be nauseous before an actual positive test?

Are you due/overdue a period?

Whilst I think it's possible, I also think it's possible to want these symptoms so much that you start imagining them/bringing them on yourself. I did every month for 3 years.

Good luck

Or you could certainly be nauseous from anxiety. Do you want to be pregnant? How late is your period?

nickytwotimes · 10/03/2009 13:14

It is possible, but don't get your hopes up. I did lst month then was really miserable when AF arrived.
When are you due?

sarah76 · 10/03/2009 13:22

The very first time I got pregnant, I felt kind of nauseous the day before the positive test (13dpo). I had a MC, and am now pregnant again, and didn't feel a thing until 6 weeks (2 weeks after pos test).

I think it's quite unusual to be nauseous that early, but it does happen. As for the negative HPT, depends when you took it, and how sensitive the test was.

i'm not overdue yet. supposed to arrive on saturday. we're not trying but not preventing atm so not too terribly anxious about being pregnant.

was hoping it was just pregnancy and not from something i ate last night --not from being jealous, just the colour of my face. oooh i feel icky.

thx for the replies. so horrible being at home with a 6 month old and feeling like this!

I tried the early tests (ie the ones before your period is due) and they were negative. The day my period was due I took another test and it too was negative. My period still didnt arrive and so, at 2 days late, I did another, and it was positive. So, it is perfectly possible to be pregnant but to get a negative result. I havent heard of sickness from such an early stage but it may well be possible. The first sign i have had, both times, apart from the late period is very sore boobs. You are still a few days off from your period due date. Dont waste money on more tests. Wait and see and do another test if your period doesnt appear by Monday (depending on how regular you are etc).

I've been ttc for 5 months EVERY month I would get nausea but it usually only lasted a day and was fixed by eating something so I put it down to either a symptom related to my menstrual cycle or my body playing tricks on me. This month from 7DPO I was horribly nauseous and it wasn't fixed by eating and it lasted right the way through (and is still going) I got my very very faint +ve on 10DPO but really you couldn't see anything til 12DPO and got a clearer positive on 14DPO

So my chocolate teapot answer is you could be, or you might not be. Only way to find out is to wait til Period is late and do a test. Good luck!

It can take a while to get a positive test - for me it always seems to. With this pregnancy my LMP was 28/06 and I didn't get a BFP until 04/08! I had some symptoms the week before the BFP - one morning I woke up with a wave of nausea which came and went in about a minute, accompanied by what I think was implantation bleeding - literally a streak of blood. Really, the only clue was that my period just wasn't coming - pregnancy is generally the only reason mine doesn't turn up.

thank you for all of the replies. turned out to be a nasty 24 hr virus but af is due tomorrow and i'm not really feeling period-y yet so we'll see what happens!

What test are you using..? They have different sensitivities. Early Response is the best, I think - picks up on very tiny amounts of hcg. I got a negative on Clearblue and a faint positive on Early Response on the same day.

katster37 · 15/03/2009 09:34

Well, I am only 12DPO, and been having BFPs since 9DPO. Feel very tired, slightly nauseous all the time and have already had to buy a new bra as my boobs literally don't fit in any I already have... And they are agony! So I guess everyone's different? Or maybe I'm having twins??! Good luck.
